Responsibilities

The successful candidate will join an active department to teach four courses in History. This position includes teaching World Civilizations: Modern World, incorporating the learning outcomes for the Global Perspectives requirements of the General Education curriculum. Additionally, the position includes teaching a section of Islam in Global Perspective and History and Culture of India. Islam in Global Perspective is a course that focuses on the historical foundations and tenets of Islam, and the nature of violence and gender relations in the Muslim world. The History and Culture of India surveys the history of the sub-continent and the modern nation states of India and Pakistan. The course will focus on culture, including religion, politics, and gender. These courses will include substantial research and writing consistent with the learning outcomes of the History department.

Qualifications

Ph.D. in History or related field required. Strong commitment to, and potential for excellence in, undergraduate teaching and collaborative research with students is required. Successful completion of an employment and/or criminal history background check required.
