Job Summary

The University Memorial Center (UMC) at CU Boulder encourages applications for a UMC Setup Team Member position! This position provides setup support for the many lectures, meetings, banquets, and conferences that take place in the UMC. This includes setting up of tables, chairs, pipe and drape, mobile staging units as well as cleaning and maintaining of event spaces daily. This position also provides general cleaning of offices, common areas and outdoor spaces associated with the UMC, and may also be called upon to assist with the setup of some basic AV equipment, office moves, annual cleaning and maintenance projects, room and equipment maintenance, or other activities throughout the UMC. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Provide Event Setup Support:
  • Provide timely and proper setup support per customer requests in all event spaces meeting rooms, and other spaces throughout the UMC.
  • Set up tables and chairs, risers, pipe and drape, banners, removal of existing furniture, resetting rooms, trash disposal, and AV/PA support as needed.
  • Prioritize daily work assignments, make adjustments to setup requests when needed, and decide what equipment to use to complete the tasks.
Daily Cleaning and Maintenance:
  • Assure that meeting and banquet space are clean and well maintained for customers of the UMC. This includes emptying trash receptacles before and after events, dust-mopping, mopping, scrubbing banquet floors, vacuuming, shampooing carpets, and keeping furniture clean and well maintained.
Cleaning and Maintaining Offices and Exterior Areas:
  • Clean and maintain offices and exterior areas of the UMC every day.
  • Offices: This includes vacuuming, shampooing carpets, emptying trash receptacles, dust mopping, mopping, and cleaning walls and light fixtures.
  • Exterior of Building: This includes daily inspections of spaces, emptying trash receptacles, sweeping sidewalks, power washing walk ways and building walls as needed.
Customer Support:
  • Work directly with customers to fine tune setups and make changes as needed.
  • Assist customers with their requests and ensure the setup meets their needs.
  • Annual Cleaning and Maintenance:
  • Assist with major floor and facility maintenance during breaks in the academic schedule. This includes shampooing carpets, stripping, resealing, and waxing of floors throughout the building, cleaning windows and walls, furniture inspection and repair, deep cleaning of event spaces, equipment organization, and other duties as assigned.
Other Responsibilities:
  • Perform moving functions for offices, equipment, and furniture. These tasks include moving heavy equipment, desks, stone tables, furniture, wood supplies as needed.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor which can include snow removal from sidewalks during winter months, general equipment maintenance and repair, replace lights throughout building, etc.


What You Should Know

  • This is a fully in-person position.
  • The schedule for this position is Tuesday-Saturday, 6am - 2:30pm.

  • The salary for this position is $37,900 annually.
