DESCRIPTION

Mendocino-Lake Community College District is currently accepting applications for a Short-Term, Non-Continuing HiSET Test Proctor for our High School Equivalency Program department.

This is a temporary, non-continuing position. This position is open until filled.

The High School Equivalency Program (HEP) and the Mendocino-Lake Adult and Career Education (MLACE) have existed since 1972 and 2015 respectively.

HEP assists migratory and seasonal farm workers (or children of such workers) who are 16 years of age or older and not currently enrolled in school to obtain the equivalent of a high school diploma and, subsequently, to gain employment or begin postsecondary education or training. The program serves 75 students annually.

ML ACE serves adults 18 years or older who are enrolled in high school diploma programs, non-credit ESLcourses, career and technical training programs, Adults with Disability (AWD) programs, and short-term jobtraining programs. It is a state-funded regional consortium which is made up of seven adult schools (inMendocino and Lake Counties), two County of Education Career Technical Education programs and thenon-credit programs at Mendocino College.

Under the general direction of the appropriate manager' administers tests and/or exams.

SALARY AND BENEFITS
This is a Short-Term Non-Continuing (STNC), temporary, hourly position, 7-10 hours per week, $22.06 per hour; Ed Code 88003 authorizes a governing board to hire STNC employees for less than 75% of a school year, up to 180 days.
Benefits: The College offers a Bronze level benefit plan at the cost of the employee.

Paid Time Off: The successful candidate will earn forty (40) hours of sick leave per fiscal year.

Retirement: This position may be eligible for CalPERS Retirement (contingent upon number of hours worked within the fiscal year)

Bilingual pay rate of .50 per hour available upon successful completion of bilingual testing.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

The successful candidate will support student success and equal access by executing the following duties:

Essential Functions:

  • Administers official tests and/or exams in accordance with testing policies and procedures
  • Completes the training requirements as deemed necessary by the program
  • Attends required on-going trainings
  • Verifies the identity and eligibility of test takers
  • Maintains testing logs
  • Maintains the security of all testing materials
  • Enforces testing protocols
Supervision Exercised:
None

Program Duties:
  • Administer HiSET tests at three Mendocino College locations; Ukiah, Lakeport and Fort Bragg
  • Complete all responsibilities for test administrators laid out in the HiSET program manual

Working conditions:
Classroom setting; subject to moderate noise; frequent interruptions; frequent social interactions. May lift up to 25 pounds

QUALIFICATIONS

Must meet Human Resources guidelines for qualified hiring; including by not limited to a Live Scan background check and completion of TB test.

Bilingual ability (English/Spanish) is required

EDUCATION:
High School Diploma/GED equivalent

SELECTION PROCEDURE

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT(Prior to beginning employment)
  • In accordance with Federal Law all employees must provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States;
  • Must be fingerprinted through DOJ and FBI and have background clearance; and Must take a TB test (once hired and every four years thereafter).
  • Within 6 months of employment, must complete required District trainings such as Sexual Harassment Prevention.
