Position Summary:
The Senior Research Analyst is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Executive Director of Institutional Effectiveness at North Seattle College.

This position develops, conducts and coordinates institutional research activities, including data collection/tracking systems and analytical methodologies across a wide range of topics and reporting needs. This work requires collaboration and engagement with administrators, faculty and staff from across the college, including the Central and South campuses and Seattle Colleges District Office.

This position provides support for the college's institutional effectiveness efforts including strategic planning, operational planning, program review, accreditation, assessment, grants and other special initiatives.

As determined by the Executive Director of Institutional Effectiveness at North Seattle College and in collaboration with the Director of Planning and Research for the Seattle Colleges District, this position will also perform data analysis, reporting and support for Seattle Colleges District as needed.

This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement with representation by AFT-Washington and is subject to union shop provisions.

Essential Functions:
Plan and conduct institutional research to support mission fulfillment and achievement of college goals, objectives and core themes.
Provide data, analysis, and methodological expertise to the college's continuous improvement efforts, and in support of grant applications and other institutional initiatives.
Work closely with college constituents to meet ongoing and emerging data reporting needs, including data and analysis in support of strategic and operational planning and assessment, program planning and review, and grant reporting.
In collaboration with the Executive Director of Institutional Effectiveness, coordinates data governance efforts at North Seattle College, including monitoring data quality as well as data management.
Assist in designing measures for performance outcomes to assess progress toward achievement of college-wide goals and objectives.
Develop and support survey administration, analysis and result dissemination (CCSSE, Student Engagement Survey, Employee Engagement Survey, etc.).
Create and implement a communication plan that includes periodic reports documenting the college's progress in institutional effectiveness.
In collaboration with Executive Director of Institutional Effectiveness, develop and maintain the Office of Institutional Effectiveness's website by posting research studies, reports and dashboards that meet the needs of the campus community.
Work collaboratively with the Seattle College District institutional research team to design and implement common methodologies for data definition, extraction, and analysis for those research needs that are shared across the colleges.
Collaborate with campus and district IT staff to evaluate, acquire and implement new technologies for data warehousing, analysis and display.
Participate in developing institutional policies, procedures and practices related to the collection, analysis and management of data.
Monitor and submit accurate external reporting such as Gainful Employment, IPEDS, WSQA, Title III eligibility document, Grants, etc.
May design and develop surveys, questionnaires, interviews, focus groups, and/or other data collection processes to assess specific department outcomes and needs.
Serve on college-wide committees including those related to accreditation and overall institutional effectiveness.
Participate in the activities of the Research and Planning Commission of the WA State Board for Community and Technical Colleges.
Other duties as assigned.

Required Education, Experience & Abilities:
Bachelor's degree in education, social science or related field that includes coursework in statistics.
Demonstrated experience in, and extensive knowledge of, analysis and assessment using statistics and applied research methodologies.
Demonstrated competence with statistical software, spreadsheets, pivot tables, and database querying software.

Must have demonstrated experience in the following areas:
Complex relational databases, data warehousing, and data management;
Presenting complex information to non-technical audiences;
Creation of documents, spreadsheets, databases and report writing software to prepare reports and present statistical analysis;
Utilize a variety of mathematical and statistical techniques and computer software functions to accurately portray analytical information and formulate conclusions;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively convey ideas and information using language that is appropriate to both the complexity of the topic and the knowledge and understanding of the audience;
Understand and effectively respond to end users' data needs;
Prioritize multiple tasks and projects to meet ongoing and sometimes competing
deadlines;
Analyze problems and make appropriate decisions or judgments relating to complex research projects;
Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain successful and effective relationships with a diverse, multicultural staff and student population.
