Job Summary:

The DiGregorio lab is seeking to hire a senior laboratory science professional. The position will focus on university compliance, lab organization (mouse colony management and inventory), and has reserved time (approximately 50%) to contribute to other aspects of the lab's research, such as pioneering new tools/techniques, developing/performing mouse surgeries, or conducting experiments in collaboration with other members in the group. The research component can be structured flexibly to match the chosen candidate's background, interests, and skills. This would be an excellent position for someone who enjoys working in a lab, conducting experiments, and has a strong interest in a longer-term position.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Mouse colony maintenance (coordinating weaning, breeding, and crosses).
  • Inventory oversight of lab consumables, including ensuring reagents are stocked and reordered when necessary.
  • Ordering and maintaining an inventory of common lab supplies.
  • Maintaining common lab equipment and ensuring all lab members have access.
  • Modifying and updating the lab's IACUC protocols, training documentation, SOPs, and EH&S compliance documentation.
  • Building working relationships with IACUC and EH&S staff to facilitate inspections, onboarding and training of new personnel, and optimization of new procedures.
  • Ensuring that new lab members receive all required training and access privileges, including maintaining current training records for lab personnel.
  • Coordinate/conducting mouse surgeries.

Work Location:

Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.
    • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
  • Two (2) years professional level research experience.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in biological science or STEM field.
  • Hands-on research experience in an academic lab.
  • Three (3) years of experience working with rodents.
  • Experience conducting mouse surgeries.
  • Experience in systems neuroscience.
  • Experience modifying or writing IACUC protocols.
  • Three (3) years of experience in an experimental or wet laboratory.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Advanced knowledge of laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.

  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $52,941 - $67,341.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
