Job Description:
The Department of Film and Media Arts within the College of Visual and Performing Arts invites applications for a three-year renewable contract appointment as Non-Tenure Track Professor of Practice (Film Program), to begin August 2024.

The faculty member will bring scriptwriting expertise and industry connections directly to the classroom. The faculty member will participate in departmental meetings and be assigned other duties as needed.

The Department of Film and Media Arts is a leading academic center for the education of media artists and professionals. Our programs offer students valuable studio experiences in well-equipped facilities, complemented by rigorous academic studies and comprehensive courses covering media arts history, diverse theory, and contemporary issues.

Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Screenwriting, Creative Writing, or recent significant professional experience at the very highest level. At least 2 years of teaching experience and at least 10 years of experience in the field will be given preference. We seek a scriptwriter with outstanding storytelling skills, in-depth knowledge of dramatic structure and great understanding of multiple platforms and genres, with professional experience. The successful candidate must demonstrate excellent teaching skills, and professional practice. A record of creative activity in screenwriting is expected. We welcome candidates who will diversify our curriculum and our faculty in regard to race, gender and ethnicity.

  • Experience teaching multiple forms of scriptwriting.
  • Long term professional work as a screenwriter.
  • Thorough understanding of film production process both independent and mainstream.
  • Strong commitment to diversity, equity, access, and inclusion, and to excellence in teaching.
