Job Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Trades Shop Supervisor for the University of Colorado Denver, Facilities Management Plumbing shop, the Plumber position duties include, but are not limited to: maintenance, repair, installation and alteration of water lines, sewers, water heaters and softeners, toilet fixtures, etc., in buildings on the downtown Denver campus.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 3 years of progressive experience in the plumbing industry.
  • Necessary special requirements: Must possess and maintain a current journey-level plumber license.

Substitutions:
At the agency's discretion, successful completion of a formalized plumbing, pipefitting or steam fitting apprenticeship program, or higher level, non-correspondence course work in the same fields from an accredited vocational school or university may substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • State of Colorado Backflow Certification
  • Experience in pipe welding.
  • Experience planning and laying out complete building designs to ensures plumbing systems function safely and effectively.
  • Experience entering, updating, and modifying information in a database.
  • Experience mechanical and electronically troubleshooting equipment.
  • Experience in plumbing that includes inspecting, replacing, adjusting, of plumbing and water systems.

Colorado law requires that candidates for state government jobs be residents of Colorado at the time of application.

  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with customers, peers, and trade co-workers.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks.

  • Excellent oral communication skills with the ability to handle stressful situations in a calm and professional manner.
  • Mechanical ability: able to learn how to diagnose and troubleshoot the problems related to plumbing failures and be able to fix it.
  • Ability to utilize a computerized maintenance management system to document daily work orders.

Conditions of Employment:

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range is $ 5,136 per month.

The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is eligible for overtime compensation.
