The Career Center at Colorado State University is part of the Division of Student Affairs and provides comprehensive career-related services to students. Our vision is that every student at Colorado State University will have high quality career education, connections, and community. Our strategy is to provide anytime access to career information via our website and apps, to grow the career ecosystem on campus so career conversations are happening everywhere, and to cultivate diverse career opportunities for our diverse student body. Student services include, but are not limited to, individual appointments and drop-ins, career fairs, networking/connect events, online resources, online training, job and internship postings, and Colorado Industry Tours. Employer services include, but are not limited to recruiting events and fairs, on-campus career interviews, job and internship postings, campus branding strategy consulting, and the Employer Partnership Program. Our award winning staff of 26 full time professionals and up to 40 part time and student staff strive to create an innovative, fun, and supportive work environment. With approximately 200 events, workshops, and presentations per year and over 5000 appointments and drop-ins, the Career Center is committed to supporting students in finding meaningful, rewarding, and affirming work.

Position Summary
The Outreach and Event Manager actively develops relationships to collaborate with campus offices and increase student awareness of and participation in Career Center services and events. This position manages a team of 10 student staff and 2 undergraduate/graduate-level interns, overseeing both front desk operations and active marketing initiatives. This position also manages one full-time employee, the Event and Project Manager. This position also independently manages logistics, leads committees, partnerships and executes over 15 major Career Center events annually. The position is part of the Communications, Outreach and Technology team and reports to the Associate Director. The Communications, Outreach and Technology team is responsible for creating marketing strategy for both passive and active audiences; designing, implementing and executing student programming aimed at engaging students with employers, alumni and education. This team is responsible for all marketing and communication endeavors on behalf of the Career Center.

Required Job Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in communications, liberal arts, business, public relations, marketing, counseling or related field
3+ years of guest service experience, working directly with customers/clients and/or event planning/public relations experience
1+ year(s) experience directly supervising, developing and evaluating staff
Experience addressing needs/concerns of historically underrepresented and ethnically diverse populations, persons with disabilities, gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender individuals, women and non-traditional students.

Preferred Job Qualifications
Demonstrated strong written communication skills
Experience hiring, training, developing and supervising student employees
Experience at an institute of higher education working with student organizations and/or students
Formal experience planning and executing events both large and small in nature
Demonstrated organizational and problem-solving skills, follow-through, management of multiple projects and attention to detail
Experience presenting to groups varying from 2 to 50+
Demonstrated expertise building new relationships and maintaining them with employers, students, faculty, and administrators OR in a similar relationship building environment such as business sales, community development, or public relations
Demonstrated experience with learning and utilizing computer applications and social media for effective communication and outreach
Demonstrated knowledge of career services programs/services and how they impact students
Demonstrated experience with databases, such as Excel, and ability to analyze large amounts of data in order to synthesize and create recommended action plans for follow-up
Demonstrated personal and professional commitment to diversity as demonstrated by persistent effort, active planning, allocation of resources and/or accountability for diversity outcomes

Essential Duties
Job Duty Category: Program Management
Duty/Responsibility
- Create and manage student-focused outreach plans for the Career Center, including pre-event invites, active-channel engagement, post-event follow-up, and other student outreach campaigns
- Create and execute annual outreach and events plan on behalf of the Career Center
- Analyze key communication efforts and effectiveness for Career Center events, determine and execute changes based on findings
- Develop and manage targeted Career Center programs and initiatives with campus partners, student organizations, and other offices on campus focused on serving traditionally underrepresented students
- Independently decide upon allocations for events, programming and student staff budgets

Job Duty Category: Relationship Management
Duty/Responsibility
- Respond to incoming inquiries from campus offices/partners interested in engaging at the Career Center through presentations, training, or event participation
- Develop and maintain relationships with focus populations such as first generation, students of color, students with disabilities, GLBTQ and other traditionally underrepresented populations through student-oriented groups and other campus offices to share knowledge and increase student awareness and use of the Career Center
- Create monthly outreach strategy and activities for student ambassadors to execute with defined target populations

Job Duty Category: Supervision
Duty/Responsibility
- Hire, train, develop and supervise the Event and Project Coordinator (024115.0001), 10 Student Ambassadors, 1 Events Intern and 1 Student Ambassador Lead Intern
- Lead team of full-time and student staff, making independent decisions regarding their daily activities and providing direction and oversight in their interactions with employers
- Participate in helping guide center-wide best practices around student supervision, developing center-wide student training, and helping coordinate hiring practices across student teams

Job Duty Category: Event Planning
Duty/Responsibility
- Lead event planning committees for over 16 events each year for the Career Center
- Manage event planning database
- Independently develop plan for and manage staff and student staff volunteers Career Center events, ensuring needs are properly covered
- Provide employer-related support to center and campus events as assigned

Job Duty Category: Campus and Association Engagement
Duty/Responsibility
- Participate in university and professional association activities such as NACE, ATD, and MPACE
- Participate as an active member of campus-wide diversity initiatives/committee/groups
- Participate as a staff member in the full activities of the Career Center and function as a key member of the university-wide Career Center team
