POSITION PURPOSE
Support research activities in the research group of the faculty supervisor (Professor On
Shun Pak) at Santa Clara University

B. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Conduct research projects and support research development
-Conduct research assigned by the faculty supervisor to a high standard that
leads to publications in peer-reviewed journals
- Assist in the design of research program and development of proposal for
research funding
- Assist in supervising students in the research group
- Engage in the dissemination of the results of the research
- Lab management, including administrative and management work associated
with the research program
2. Other duties as assigned.

C. PROVIDES WORK DIRECTION
Provide guidance to undergraduate and graduate student researchers in Professor On
Shun Pak's research group

D. GENERAL GUIDELINES
1. Recommends initiatives and implements changes to improve research quality.
2. Identifies and determines cause of problems; develops and presents recommendations for improvement of established processes and practices.
3. Maximizes productivity through use of appropriate tools; planned training and performance initiatives.
4. Researches and develops resources that create timely and efficient workflow.
5. Prepares progress reports; informs supervisor of project status; and deviation from goals. Ensures
completeness, accuracy and timeliness of all operational functions.
6. Prepares and submits reports as requested and required.
7. Develops and implements guidelines to support the functions of the unit.

E. QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The items below are representative of the knowledge, skills, abilities, education, and experience required or preferred.
This position requires the ability to effectively establish and maintain cooperative working relationships within a diverse multicultural environment.

1. Knowledge
Knowledge in fluid mechanics, microhydrodynamics, and soft matter physics.
2. Skills
Theoretical and/or computational skills in fluid mechanics, microhydrodynamics and soft
matter physics.
3. Abilities
Perform research in fluid mechanics and soft matter physics.
4. Education
Ph.D. in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or closely related fields

5. Years of Experience
0-3 years of theoretical/computational research experience required.
