Position Summary:

Responsible for clerical and office support for administrators, faculty members, and staff at the College of Law.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Provides administrative/clerical support to the College of Law administrators, faculty,and staff, including typing and proofreading correspondence, class materials, examinations, etc. using a variety of word processing and/ or spreadsheet software.

  • Performs general office duties, such as answering and/or routing telephone calls, taking messages, greeting visitors, sorting mail, photocopying class and other materials, and processing invoices and reimbursement requests.

  • Organizes and maintains filing systems for correspondence and class material files; maintains student handout boxes, responsible for the storage of supplies and faculty records.

  • Orders and distributes office supplies.

  • Safeguards the confidentiality of departmental or office administration by exercising discretion in communicating information to faculty, students and staff, and handling departmental records and files, personnel actions, performance evaluations, grade reports, merit, promotion and tenure decisions, and similar confidential materials.

  • Works collaboratively and supports the Administrative Program Assistant in completing tasks, projects, etc.

  • Performs other functions as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school education or equivalent is required. Two years of college is preferred. Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position described above.

  • At least two years of general office, clerical, and/or secretarial experience required.

  • Strong communication skills: verbal, written and listening.

  • Excellent grammar, proofreading, and spelling skills, as well as attention to detail.

  • Highly motivated with good work ethics and able to work in a fast-paced multitasking environment.

  • Must possess strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Must possess a positive professional and "can do" attitude.

  • An understanding of team dynamics and previous successful experience working in a team environment strongly desired.

  • Ability to adapt way of working in response to changing needs of the job.

  • Strong public relations skills, which include projecting a favorable attitude and the ability to work with students, faculty, administrators, attorneys, and the general public.

  • Ability to work independently as well as establish and maintain harmonious relationships with a diverse group of staff, faculty and students.

  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and diversity.

  • Successful clearance of a criminal background check.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Two years of college preferred.

TYPICAL WORK SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday 8am to 5pm
