Madison College offers a generous benefit program including health and dental benefits. The employee selected will serve a twelve (12) month introductory period. This position does not offer a relocation package.

This is a full-time, non-exempt, 40 hours per week position during the academic year and part-time, 16 hours per week during the summer. Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Interviews will be held via WebEx. Anticipated start date of August 3, 2020.

ORGANIZATIONAL FUNCTION AND RELATIONSHIPS:

The Lab Coordinator will provide support to students served in the Accounting and Business Lab, focusing on support for business technology classes, and other business-related disciplines, toward the goal of retaining them as successful students at Madison College. This position is full-time during the fall and spring semesters with limited summer semester hours.

The position reports to the Associate Dean - School of Business and Applied Arts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Assists students with assignments and projects required in their program courses, with special emphasis on the Business Technology area. Tutors students on a one-to-one basis. Maintains effective communication with Faculty and students to ensure instructional needs are being met.
  • Attends and participates in departmental meetings as well as computer equipment in the lab.
  • Collaborates with Accounting and Finance Lab Coordinator to Schedules and trains work study/student help employees.
  • Promotes appropriate use of the computer lab through such things as; reminding students of computer lab rules (if necessary) and respect for and current use of equipment and supplies.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of existing and potential coursework-related software. Maintains reference materials (both paper and online) in computer lab.
  • Coordination of maintenance of equipment with the Technology Services Department.
  • Maintains a commitment to the college mission, vision and values. Complies with college policies, directives, and work rules.
  • Other duties as defined by department, college, or officials.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Skill in communicating effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated skill in communications and human relations with populations of diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds and persons with disabilities.
  • Thorough knowledge of the topic areas and project requirements of program courses in the Business related programs.
  • Ability to establish and maintain rapport with students, both on a group and individual basis.
  • Skill in the use of PC computer workstations.
  • Skill in the use of database, spreadsheet, word processing, presentation, email, document preparation software, etc. including, but not limited to, Windows, Microsoft Office, Outlook, Project, Adobe InDesign, Blackboard, Internet, and Office 365. Knowledge of basic accounting and business math is desirable.


MINIMUM QUALIFCATIONS:
  • Associates degree or two year technical certificate from an accredited institution in Business Technology or related field; OR two (2) years (4,000 hours) of related work experience directly related to the skills required for successfully performing this position.


*Experience used as an equivalent of an educational requirement is in addition to any experience required by the position.
  • Two (2) years (4,000 hours) or work experience in the use of PC computers in a business setting or other directly related work experience required for successfully performing this position.
