Food Service Administrator I

Primary Function:
9-month position; actual start and end dates may vary based on academic calendar

This position reports to the Catering Manager and is responsible for supervising catering staff at various functions and events.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Is responsible for all catering setups and service for various functions and events. Supervise Student employees in set up and service for various functions and events. Review set-up and presentation of food before service begins; conduct pre-service briefing of all staff involved. Assist with set up and clean up after catered events, as needed.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.

Two (2) years of responsible experience in catering. One year of university training in dietetics, hotel management, institutional management or related fields may be substituted for one year of experience.

(Illinois Food Service Sanitation Certifications: Certification required within first 6 months of employment; Bassett (alcohol training course) Certification is required within the first 6 months of employment)

Education and Experience Preferred:
  1. Catering experience on a college campus.
  2. Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  3. Organizational and time management skills.
  4. Strong customer service skills.
  5. Ability to be flexible and meet deadlines.
  6. Illinois Food Service Sanitation Certification. Certification required within first 6 months of employment
  7. Bassett certification (alcohol training course). Certification is required within the first 6 months of employment.
  8. Valid State of Illinois Drivers License


Working Hours: M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as required
