Primary Purpose of Organization Unit:
The University of North Carolina at Pembrokes Planning, Design and Construction department is to development and implement a strategic plan to improve and expanding all physical facilities in support of the teaching, research and service missions of the University.

Primary Purpose of Position:
The position is assigned as a Project Manager under the supervision of the Director of Planning, Design and Construction in Facilities Management. This position will focus on repair and renovation projects to ensure successful project delivery (scope, budget and schedule compliance) on multiple assigned projects. The position is responsible for developing clear project scopes and objectives; involving relevant stakeholders; ensuring technical feasibility; coordinating internal and external resources; continuous monitoring and reporting on project progress; maintaining comprehensive project documentation from project start to finish.

This position will be responsible for managing multiple projects through design and construction focusing on repair and renovation projects working with facilities operations being the primary client.
This position will involve the following
  1. Prepare comprehensive project scopes, budgets, and schedules for capital projects
  2. Prepare project declaration of scope for customer review and approval.
  3. Review project packages for accuracy and adherence to scope, budget, schedule and quality
  4. Ensure that plans are submitted to review by the state (if necessary) and the University community and all review comments/questions are satisfactory addressed before moving project into bid.
  5. Ensure project budgets and schedules are maintained throughout the project.
  6. Manage the contractual requirements for the project and analyses and recommends changes to contracts.
  7. Ensure the client is fully engaged during the entire process of the project.
  8. Provide routine communication regarding project status, changes in scope, schedule, and budget.
  9. Ensure the client understands the changes that occur during the project.
  10. Attend site visits and project meetings to ensure that progress is adhering to the schedule and budget.
  11. Perform inspections of work in place and provide documentation and direction to the contractors and the designers.
