Job Summary:

The Electrical Trades II position ensures the availability and distribution of electrical power to the CU Anschutz Medical campus, for use by, but not limited to the following systems: energy management (EMCS), lighting, power for telecommunications, computer network, and a multitude of other power applications. Inspects, repairs, and performs preventive maintenance on electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • The position learn to read and understand Blueprint drawings, specifications, and codes related to plumbing and infrastructure.
  • The position learn evaluate the operation of malfunctioning or dilapidated equipment, and components and decides or recommends between replacement or repair options. i.e., pump systems, heat exchanger, vacuum system, and water distribution systems.
  • The position sets priorities on work assigned to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • The position lean to makes all in-house repairs and maintenance of fire protection systems, close loop systems, water treatment systems and heating and cooling systems.
  • The position learn to determine if the repair can be made or if it would be more cost effective to purchase a replacement.
  • This position uses manufacturer's specifications and operating procedures, with standard trade practices to evaluate the operations of all plumbing related systems, equipment, and components.
  • The position speaks to customer and staff in an informative manner regarding repairs needed to fix the equipment.

Work Location: Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications
        • 18 years or older.
        • Current, valid licensure as a journeyman electrician from the Colorado Electrical Board.
        • Colorado law requires that candidates for state government jobs be residents of Colorado at the time of application

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications
        • Experience working with fire alarm systems
        • Experience diagnosing and repairing malfunctions in existing electrical systems.
        • Experience providing training on ballast replacement and basic electrical troubleshooting skills.

Conditions of Employment:
        • This position requires a State of Colorado Journeyman or Masters Electrical License.

        • Must be willing and able to work around noise/vibrations.
        • Must be willing and able to work alone, above ground and in small confined spaces.
        • Must be willing and able to walk on uneven surfaces and climb on scaffolds/ladders.

NOTE: This position has been designated as essential personnel, and will be required to respond to emergencies as needed. Position may also be required to stay late, come in early, or cover shifts as needed. Anticipated Salary Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $4,903 - $5,393. per month.

The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is eligible for overtime compensation.
