Job Description:
APPOINTMENT: Eleven-month position starting January 2, 2019. Department chairpersons serve four-year terms that are renewable by the Dean/Provost.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Recruiting, supervising, and evaluating faculty and support staff, long- and short-range planning, managing departmental budgets and resource allocation; supporting faculty development; pursuing accreditation; promoting excellence in teaching; coordinating efforts to recruit and retain undergraduate and graduate students; maintaining strong alumni relations; promoting curriculum development for face-to-face and online classes; coordinating articulation agreements; communicating clearly and openly with the department; representing the department to the College and University; communicating expectations of the University administration to the department faculty and staff; coordinating Advisory Board meetings and providing outcome assessment reports; and performing other administrative duties.

Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Earned doctorate from an accredited institution and possess a graduate degree related to Construction Management, Graphic Communication, Instruction Design and Technology, or Engineering Technology (manufacturing/engineering) or a closely related field; minimum rank of Professor; relevant professional work experience; excellent communication; leadership experience with resources and personnel in higher education; demonstrated record of distinguished teaching, research/scholarship, and service; experience in curriculum development and online education; student recruitment and retention, and faculty recruitment and development. Track record of being able to complete projects in a timely manner. Relevant experience in the program accreditation process.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in strategic planning and administration; receptivity to new ideas; fiscal and project management experience; ability to work with multiple constituencies; at least three years of relevant industry experience; experience in international education programs and degree articulation; a record of involvement in professional societies and in community relations; professional certification; experience with grant writing or other fundraising experience; vision and ability to bring the department to higher levels of achievement

THE DEPARTMENT: The Engineering Technology Department offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Graphic Communication, and Master of Science degrees in Engineering Technology Leadership and Instructional Design and Technology. The department currently has 12 full-time tenure-track faculty, three associate faculty, and 11 adjunct faculty. The Engineering Technology Department has an enduring reputation for excellent teaching, and for exemplary research and service. Macomb is an Amtrak city with twice-daily service to Chicago. Macomb is located approximately 75 miles from the Quad Cities International Airport (Moline, IL) and 70 miles from the Greater Peoria Regional Airport (Peoria, IL).

WIU-Quad Cities (Student Population: 1,332): The only public university in the Quad Cities area, WIU-QC offers select undergraduate and graduate programs, including a doctorate in education and a doctorate in environmental studies, at its metropolitan, non-residential campus in Moline, IL (population 44,000). The Quad Cities (population 376,000) rests on the banks of the Mississippi River and is comprised of Moline and Rock Island in western Illinois and Davenport and Bettendorf in eastern Iowa. Moline, Illinois is home to the Quad Cities International Airport.
