The Incumbent performs complex and highly responsible functions for ordering, issuing, repairing, setting up, maintaining, and monitoring the use of athletic equipment, supplies, uniforms, and facilities for assigned individuals and organized sports events and classes. Work requires extensive knowledge of the District's laundering, organization, collection, controls, and maintenance of athletic equipment, supplies, uniforms, and facilities for student and athlete use procedures applicable to areas of responsibility. Duties


GENERAL PURPOSEUnder general supervision, orders, issues, repairs, launders, organizes, collects, controls and maintains athletic equipment, supplies, uniforms and facilities for student and athlete use; and performs related duties as assigned. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS Athletic Equipment Technicians are responsible for ordering, issuing, repairing, setting up, maintaining and monitoring the use of athletic equipment, supplies, uniforms and facilities for assigned individuals and organized sports events and classes. Athletic Equipment Technician is distinguished from Senior Equipment Technician in that incumbents in the latter are responsible for managing day-to-day activities and serve in a lead capacity, whereas incumbents in the former perform routine responsibilities involved in the care and maintenance of athletic equipment, uniforms and facilities, requiring a more diverse skill set and knowledge base. Qualifications


Education, Training and Experience:Graduation from high school or a G.E.D. equivalent; and two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in maintaining athletic facilities, uniforms, equipment and supplies in an organized setting of student athletes; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements:
  1. A valid First Aid Certificate issued by an authorized agency.
  2. May require a valid California driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District's vehicle insurance policy.
  3. Ability to work variable hours depending on sporting event.
Meeting the minimum requirements of the position does not guarantee advancement in the selection process. Candidate qualifications will be assessed to determine those who meet and exceed requirements, and are deemed most competitive amongst the applicant pool to proceed.
