Job Summary:
The Department of Radiology at University of Colorado Denver is seeking applicants for a full-time Emergency Imaging Radiologist faculty physician. We are interested in candidates at any stage of their career from the Sr. Instructor, Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor levels. This is an open-track position with faculty able to select between the Academic/Tenure-Eligible and Clinical Practice pathways. Exceptional international candidates who need J1 waivers are excellent candidates for either pathway.
The Emergency Department (ED) Division offers multiple faculty scheduling models designed to accommodate a variety of professional and lifestyle preferences. Current opportunities include ED Daytime, Fully Remote Night, and In-House Night positions, each with distinct clinical responsibilities and scheduling structures while providing comprehensive emergency radiology coverage.
ED Daytime
The daytime schedule follows a workweek defined as seven consecutive days (Monday through Sunday). Shifts run from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with faculty typically working one week out of every two, totaling 182 shifts over a 52-week period.
Fully Remote Nights
The fully remote night position consists of a three-person team providing overnight coverage for University Hospital from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM. On average, each physician works one out of every three weeks, resulting in approximately 17 weeks (about 4 months) of night shifts and 35 weeks (about 8 months) off each year.
In-House Nights
The in-house night position is staffed by a seven-person team providing overnight coverage at both University Hospital (tertiary care and Level I Trauma Center, 10:00 PM-7:00 AM) and Denver Health Medical Center (Level I Trauma Center, 9:00 PM-7:00 AM). Each member of the team will work an average of two weeks out of seven weeks, which is a total of 15 weeks in a year.
Swing Shifts
Various models are available to support swing shift positions for evenings to midnight.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpretation of all emergent imaging studies performed, including MR, CT, US, and CR/DR examinations.
- As a member of the Department of Radiology covering multiple sites, the successful recruit will be required to participate in all aspects of our clinical practice
- Participation and collaboration through interdisciplinary conferences is ongoing
- Participation in fellow, and resident education is expected
- Being one of the primary radiologists at our hospital, regular interaction with referring providers within our highly collaborative setting is a standard expectation of the role.
Work Location:
Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO
Remote - this role is eligible to work remotely, but the employee must be in the United States.

Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Sr. Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:
Sr. Instructor-Professor
- Licensed MD or DO from accredited institution in the U.S., or equivalent, if a non-U.S. graduate
- Colorado Medical License at time of hire
- ABR certified or eligible
- Radiology fellowship Training

- Interpretation of imaging studies and procedures.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:
Sr. Instructor : $450,000 - $550,000
Assistant Professor: $450,000 - $550,000
Associate Professor: $450,000 - $550,000
Professor: $450,000 - $550,000
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
