Job Summary


The Bowman Research Group invites applications to fill a professional research assistant position to work on and support the currently funded ARPA-H research project and other research activities, as well as future related research activities, related to the development and implementation of materials to enable stasis in mammalian cells to include research support, equipment support and coordination, report preparation, and account management.

Who We Are


The Bowman Research Group is based at the University of Colorado at Boulder and directed by Christopher N. Bowman, James & Catherine Patten Professor at the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering. Our general research thrust is the investigation of the formation, structure and properties of crosslinked polymeric materials, particularly those formed from photopolymerization reactions. Specifically, our group is focusing on developing new materials, polymerizations, modeling and polymerization mechanisms for a variety of applications including:

  • Putting cells into biostasis and enabling preservation through gelation
  • "Click" Reactions for Polymer Networks
  • Covalent Adaptable Polymer Networks
  • Optical Materials and Holographic materials


These interests are investigated, often through collaborations, by incorporating a mixture of polymerization reaction engineering, monomer and polymer synthesis, and experimental characterization.

The group is currently composed of graduate students and post-doctoral researchers, with various interdisciplinary collaborations with professors from chemical and biological engineering, electrical engineering, biochemistry, and dentistry.



What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Research support and management for current ARPA-H grant
  • ARPA-H report preparation, coordination, and presentation to the funding agency including financial and technical aspects
  • Research support and management of other grants, gifts, and research activities
  • Equipment management, oversight, coordination, and scheduling
  • Laboratory safety coordination
  • Assisting and participating in proposal and manuscript preparation, writing, and submission
  • Technical support for materials science courses
  • Other duties as needed




What We Can Offer


The annual salary range for this 60% time position is $42,500 - $45,000.

What We Require


Bachelor's degree and at least five years experience (after the degree was awarded) in an academic environment, including employment in a STEM field with extensive experience working with PhD students.
