The Department of Pathology at the University of Utah is seeking a pathologist with training in the diagnosis, teaching, and clinical research of pediatric pathology. The position is needed to balance recent growth and retirements. Candidates must be certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology or equivalent and be eligible for certification in Pediatric Pathology. Candidates must also be eligible for medical licensure in Utah. Salary and rank will be based on training and experience.
The Division of Pediatric Pathology is based at Primary Children's Hospital on the campus of the University of Utah. Operated by Intermountain Health, Primary Children's serves a 5-state area in the Intermountain West and includes the 332-bed Salt Lake City Campus hospital as well as the 66-bed Miller Campus hospital just south of the city. The Division currently includes staffing for 8 pediatric pathologists and has a fellowship training program. Opportunities and mentoring to develop further expertise in specific areas (surgical/molecular, GI/liver, neuropathology, laboratory/transfusion medicine, perinatal/autopsy) are also available, including excellent opportunities for collaborative research with our clinical divisions. We offer flexibility of service distribution depending on needs and interests.
The Department of Pathology has excellent clinical, research, and education programs; operates a national reference laboratory, ARUP Laboratories, and is integrated with the Huntsman Cancer Institute, which provide exceptional opportunities for research and education.
