Position Announcement
Create design that drives real impact. Utah Valley University is hiring a Graphic Designer II to lead high-level creative work that engages donors and alumni and supports Institutional Advancement priorities. This role offers the opportunity to take projects from concept to completion, collaborate across teams, and produce design that directly contributes to fundraising and engagement outcomes.
Summary of Responsibilities
- Designs digital, print, and other collateral materials for a variety of needs in a variety of formats. Creates and manipulates graphics to accomplish marketing and strategic communications goals.
- Consults with and advises with senior director of marketing and strategic communications along with other members of the division on the planning of print and digital communications. Works with a variety of individuals throughout the design process to ensure the final product is of the highest quality and is targeted to divisional goals and to the purpose of each individual piece.
- Manages negotiations with on-campus and off-campus vendors to produce high-quality products. Develop relationships with on-campus and off-campus vendors. Consults with photographers to procure appropriate artwork.
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor's degree and one to two years of experience in Summary of Duties; OR any combination of education and experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling five years.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Knowledge
- Knowledge and expertise with digital design to help support strategic marketing initiatives.
- Knowledge and experience in developing, designing, and implementing marketing, promotions, and communications collateral.
- Knowledge of Web 2.0 tools, coding, and resources, as well as experience in all phases of publication and production.
- Knowledge and experience with project management within a professional design/production setting.
- Knowledge of designing for social media and other digital platforms.
- Knowledge of digital media production, management, and measurement.
- Proficient skills in graphic design and expert knowledge of Adobe CS (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) and other graphic software.
- Exceptional skills in writing and editing.
- Skills and experience with website development, coding, and content development.
- Proficient in HTML, XML, and other web-related software, as well as in Microsoft Office Suite and other office productivity software.
- Skills and experience working within Content Management Systems (CMS).
- Strong knowledge of social media software, culture, and marketing tactics.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work creatively within an approved institutional graphic identity.
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced, collaborative work environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to provide effective client service and support.
