Job Summary

The Head Men's Basketball Coach is responsible for leading, organizing, and administering all aspects of the Men's Basketball program in alignment with the mission, values, and strategic goals of the institution and the NAIA. This role oversees the development of a competitive program, focusing on student athlete recruitment, retention, academic success, skill development, and overall program excellence. The coach is expected to foster a positive team culture, ensure compliance with NAIA regulations, and represent the college with the highest level of professionalism.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage all aspects of the Men's Basketball program, including practice planning, game strategy, and player development.
  • Recruit academically qualified and athletically talented student athletes in alignment with NAIA and institutional standards.
  • Oversee academic progress, eligibility, and retention of all student-athletes within the program.
  • Develop and maintain a competitive, positive, and ethical team culture.
  • Supervise and mentor assistant coaches, graduate assistants, and support staff.
  • Manage all program operations, including budgeting, travel planning, equipment needs, and scheduling.
  • Ensure full compliance with NAIA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations.
  • Coordinate strength training, conditioning programs, and off-season development plans.
  • Conduct team meetings, film sessions, scouting reports, and performance evaluations.
  • Engage in fundraising, alumni relations, and community outreach to support program growth.
  • Maintain strong communication and collaboration with athletic administration and campus partners.
  • Represent the college with professionalism and serve as an ambassador for the athletics department.


Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel for recruiting and competition.

Requires Experience
  • Demonstrated coaching experience at the collegiate level or equivalent competitive level.


Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Education
  • Master's degree in a related field.

Preferred Experience
  • Successful head coaching experience at the collegiate level.
  • Proven record of recruiting talented student athletes and building successful competitive programs.


Proposed Salary

$40,000.00

This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.

  • Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to mentor student athletes and maintain positive professional relationships with staff, faculty, students, and community partners.

KNOWLEDGE
  • Adhere to University policies and procedures to meet Institutional goals and support University's mission for student success
  • Comprehensive knowledge of NAIA rules, regulations, and championship standards.
  • Expertise in basketball coaching, strategy, player development, and performance evaluation.

SKILLS
  • Effective communication (verbal and written), organizational and human relations skills
  • Proficiency with technology and software systems used for recruiting, video analysis, and program administration.
