Range 14 ($5,389.17) per month based on the current Classified salary schedule.
- New employees will begin on Step L ($5,389.17).
- Salary negotiation is not allowed.
- Promoted or transferred employees will be placed as specified in the CBA.
- This position is FLSA Non-exempt (may accrue overtime).
- Excellent Benefits are provided to all Contract employees with assignments greater than, or equal to, 50% (0.50 FTE) and all eligible dependents.
- A temporary probationary period will apply to the employee entering this assignment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direction of assigned supervisor, this position performs a variety of general clerical and media technical duties in a Library and Learning Resource Center. Responsibilities include delivering exceptional customer service at circulation and help desk areas, aiding patrons with printing, managing the check-in/out process for library materials, offering guidance and directional support. Assist in planning and implementing systems for receiving, processing, and distributing instructional materials. Operate, inventory, and conduct minor maintenance on media materials and equipment. Assist with data entry. Maintain a media collection, including storage, control, and upkeep of instructional materials to ensure accessibility and functionality. Train and provide work direction and guidance to student assistants and hourly personnel. Assist with scheduling, coordinating, and conducting basic orientations to groups of students. Prepare requisitions and correspondence. Organize book placement, conduct shelf inspections, and preserve the cleanliness of the library collection, ensuring tidy and organized study areas. Ensure clean and orderly study spaces. Perform related duties as assigned.

Desired Qualifications:
Knowledge
- Excellent Customer Service Skills.
- Receptionist and telephone techniques.
- Oral and written communications skills.
- Organization skills.
- Working in a Library and/or Learning Resource Center.
- Knowledge of the Library of Congress classification system.
- Library clerical skills in accuracy of book shelving, shifting, shelf reading, and more.
- Proficiency in library services platforms (LSP) such as Ex Libris Alma and Primo, as well as other management systems like Campus Solutions and PeopleSoft.
- Computer software skills in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), MS Teams, Outlook calendar, Canva, Google Docs, and more.
- Experience in assisting in planning and implementing systems for receiving, processing, and distributing instructional materials. e.g. processing library books.
- Record-keeping techniques.
- Experience training others

Physical Requirements:
- Category II - Classifications which may occasionally or on demand require physical exertion, stamina and flexibility. This category may include jobs that require high motor coordination, average finger dexterity, average to low-level manual dexterity and eye-hand-foot coordination, and nominal color discrimination. e.g. pushing book carts, shelving books, using ladders and step stools, and more.

Foreign Degree:
Applicants with foreign degrees from colleges or universities outside of the United States must have their coursework evaluated by a professional association that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or Academic Credentials Evaluation Institute, INC.(ACEI). SELECTED CANDIDATE IS REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT:
- Submit "official" college transcripts as stated on application (even if a degree is not a requirement for this position);
- Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam for initial appointment (Note: The certificate must be renewed every 4 years as a condition of continuing employment);
- Have fingerprints taken by a Live Scan computer at the Districts expense (Clearance must be received prior to first day of employment);
- Present original documents for proof of eligibility to work in the United States as required by the I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification form; AND,
- Attend a new hire processing appointment in People, Culture, and Technology Services located at the District Administrative Offices.
EMPLOYMENT AFTER RETIREMENT
If you accept a contract (permanent) position with SDCCD and are a retired annuitant with CalPERS or CalSTRS, you must reinstate from your retirement system. Please reference the CalPERS or CalSTRS website for further information.
