Position Announcement

Utah Valley University (UVU) is seeking a collaborative and visionary leader to serve as the Associate Dean of the College of Health and Public Service (CHPS). Under the direction of the Dean, this position plays a key role in shaping the future of the college through strategic leadership, operational excellence, and a commitment to student and faculty success. The Associate Dean will help guide academic programs, strengthen community partnerships, and promote innovation in teaching, research, and service.

Summary of Responsibilities


  • Academic Leadership and Faculty Support - Provides leadership in faculty development, mentoring, and academic excellence across CHPS programs. Coordinates and supports the development, communication, and implementation of RTP (Retention, Tenure, and Promotion) criteria and committee processes to ensure consistency and fairness across departments. Collaborates with program directors to enhance graduate program quality, student outcomes, and faculty engagement. Establishes mentoring networks for faculty and students to strengthen professional growth and scholarly productivity.
  • Student Success and Clinical Support - Provides direction and support for clinical education, ensuring quality placements, supervision, and student readiness for professional practice. Expands and strengthens internship partnerships with community and industry organizations to enhance experiential learning. Monitors data related to student outcomes and collaborates with advising and program teams to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Strategic Planning and Operations - Participates in long-term strategic and facility planning efforts to advance the mission and goals of CHPS. Provides leadership and representation for CHPS campus planning and university-wide initiatives. Collaborates with the Dean and college leadership on resource allocation, operational improvement, and assessment of strategic priorities. Leads special projects and task forces as assigned to enhance organizational effectiveness and institutional alignment.
  • Online and Community Engagement - Provides oversight for CHPS online learning initiatives. Works collaboratively with instructional designers, faculty, and University Marketing and Communications to ensure high-quality, accessible, and market-responsive programs. Engages alumni, community partners, and professional networks to build visibility and sustain long-term relationships that support college goals, student success, and workforce alignment.
  • Strategic Initiatives and Innovation Leads and advances CHPS initiatives related to emerging areas of focus, including Artificial Intelligence in health and public service and the Autism Champions program. Oversees the development and growth of the Autism Champion College, promoting inclusion, accessibility, and innovation throughout the college. Encourages interdisciplinary collaboration and external partnerships that align with institutional priorities and expand CHPS's impact in addressing complex health and human service challenges.


Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications


  • Earned a terminal degree from an accredited institution in a discipline closely associated with those represented within the College.
  • Achievement of tenure and rank of at least Associate Professor, and three years of effective administrative experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Earned a doctorate degree from an accredited institution in a discipline closely associated with those represented within the College.
  • Achieved rank of Full Professor.
