Position Announcement
The Department of Technology Management (Technology Management & Mechatronics | UVU) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Applied Artificial Intelligence to begin August 2026.
The faculty member primarily develops and teaches courses in the Master of Applied Artificial Intelligence program, as well as courses in the undergraduate Technology Management program. The faculty member teaches in-person, live streaming, and/or online classes as assigned. The faculty member engages in scholarly activities that contribute to the university's, department's, and profession's missions. In addition, the faculty member provides service at the department, college, and university levels. This position also supports the Kahlert Applied AI Institute through collaborative research, curriculum development, and initiatives that advance the integration of AI across the University.

The Technology Management and Mechatronics Department offers a Master of Applied AI, a Master of Science in Engineering and Technology Management. In addition, the department offers undergraduate degrees in Technology Management and Mechatronics Engineering Technology. This position will primarily serve in the Technology Management programs and requires experience in developing and teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Technology Management or a relevant discipline related to applied artificial intelligence.
Summary of Responsibilities
- Instructs, manages, and supervises individuals and groups in classrooms, online, and laboratories, through demonstration, discussion, visual aids, individualized instruction, lectures, and other appropriate methods for educational delivery.
- Plans, prepares, and follows an approved course of study that includes measurable objectives for each course taught. Prepares instructional materials. Evaluates student performance using appropriate testing and grading procedures.
- Engages in scholarly activities, including applied research, and produces scholarly/creative work consistent with disciplinary specialization and the academic goals of the department.
- Serves the department, college, and university by attending departmental meetings, working on committees, and accepting other service appointments.
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
- Graduation from an accredited institution with a doctoral degree in one of these fields: Applied Artificial Intelligence, Technology Management, or a technology management-related field (e.g., industrial engineering, engineering management, project management, operations management), Information Systems, Engineering in AI and Machine Learning, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or any Applied AI-related field.
- Professional evidence of applied artificial intelligence within an organization.
- Demonstrated experience incorporating artificial intelligence concepts and applications into curriculum design and instruction, with the ability to contextualize AI within various disciplines and advance students' understanding of its relevance and impact.
- Two or more years of teaching experience.
- Evidence of scholarship.
- Evidence of use or potential for the use of digital learning tools and mechanisms in online instruction.
- Frequent talking, hearing, sitting, walking, and standing.
- Frequent use of fine-hand manipulation associated with the use of a computer.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Knowledge
- Knowledge of strategic AI implementation, ethical governance, data-driven competitive strategy, bias and fairness management, and leading cross-functional AI deployments, with demonstrated ability to stay current with rapidly evolving AI technologies and their business implications.
- Knowledge of AI tools and platforms commonly used in business environments.
- Knowledge of data management principles and data-driven decision-making processes.
- Knowledge of AI ethics, governance frameworks, and responsible AI practices (including strategy and implementation) in organizational settings.
- Knowledge of subject matter and curriculum development, including online teaching in the areas of technology management, project management, and/or engineering management.
- Knowledge of teaching through implementing appropriate pedagogy, clear presentation, and preparation.
- Knowledge of student management, motivation, and evaluation.
- Knowledge of development and assessment of curriculum.
- Skills in maintaining professional and ethical academic standards
