The Neuromuscular Neuropsychologist (NN) will be part of a thriving academic/clinical team in the Division of Pediatric Neurology in the Department of Pediatrics, University of Utah School of Medicine. The NN will provide a full range of psychotherapeutic, diagnostic, and training activities, and provide high-level psychological assessment, diagnosis, and evidenced-based treatment services, primarily for children with neuromuscular disorders or other pediatric neurological disorders, in inpatient and outpatient settings. Clinical activities will take place primarily at Primary Children's Hospital and the Eccles Outpatient Building. The NN is expected to be an integral part of clinical research efforts in the neuropsychological testing for clinical trial and other research efforts, including cognitive and behavioral components of children and young adults with neuromuscular disorders.
The Division maintains an excellent collegial relationship with our neuromuscular and neuroimaging colleagues, with neuromuscular care and psychological evaluation and treatment being an area of expanding need. Beyond this, the Division provides specialty care in a variety of pediatric and developmental neurological conditions including epilepsy, vascular disease, movement disorders, neonatal neurology, headache, and functional neuroimaging. In addition to research and clinical care, the faculty member will participate in education activity, with opportunities in quality improvement, and advocacy.
Qualified candidates must have a Ph.D. from an APA accredited graduate program in Education Psychology/Counseling Psychology, with successful completion of an APA-approved doctoral internship in Counseling Psychology. Must possess research experience in pediatric neuromuscular disorders, including publications, with prior experience in neuromuscular clinical trials. The selected candidate will receive a faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics in the Clinical Track at the rank of Assistant Professor.
