The Westside Leadership Institute (WLI) Assistant supports the Institute's operations, programming, and community engagement on Salt Lake County's west side. Under the supervision of WLI's Partnership Manager and UNP Director, the WLI Assistant helps with logistical coordination, communications, participant support, and event preparation, ensuring that WLI's programs run smoothly and impactfully.

This position is expected to assist across WLI's core initiatives (e.g., Fundamentals, Workshops, Startups) and community-based work. It is part-time and may occasionally require evening or weekend work for events or community meetings. The work location is based out of the Hartland Partnership Center 1578 W 1700 S Salt Lake City, UT.

Position is grant funded for 2 years and will end at that time. We are working to secure additional funding for continuation.

Responsibilities
Program Assistant, II

  • Assist with day-to-day administrative tasks: document preparation, data entry, filing, scheduling, email correspondence, and maintaining files
  • Support program coordination: help prepare materials for workshops, courses, community meetings, and cohort sessions
  • Set up and clean up venues for in-person events (arranging tables/chairs, signage, name tags, AV equipment)
  • Assist with communications and outreach: updating the website or social media, crafting emails, printing, and distributing promotional materials
  • Track participant registration, maintain participant databases, monitor attendance, and produce simple reports
  • Provide front-line support to program participants: answering phone calls, greeting guests, responding to questions, guiding participants
  • Serve as liaison or support for partners, funders, and stakeholders, as directed
  • Assist with evaluation, feedback collection, and reporting by distributing surveys, gathering responses, and summarizing results
  • Participate in site visits, community meetings, or other fieldwork as needed
  • Help manage supplies, ordering, and inventories for program materials
  • Support special projects, as assigned, including grant reporting, community engagement, or initiative-specific tasks

Minimum Qualifications
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
Program Assistant, II: Requires at least 1 year of related experience.

Preferences
  • Experience working in nonprofit organizations, community-based programs, or leadership development programs
  • Familiarity with the west side stakeholders
  • Experience with social media management, website content editing, or communications tools
  • Grant writing or reporting experience
  • Bilingual skills
  • Driver's license
