The Operations and Information Systems (OIS) Department at the David Eccles School of Business, University of Utah is seeking applicants for a full-time career-line (non-tenure track) faculty position in Information Systems at the rank of Assistant Professor (Lecturer), Associate Professor (Lecturer), or Professor (Lecturer), depending on qualifications.
Position Overview
Career-line faculty at the Eccles School are vital contributors to the teaching and service mission of the department. The primary responsibilities of this position include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, recruiting and advising students, supporting student learning and success, and engaging in departmental and school-level service. Faculty may also participate in research projects and practice-oriented student collaborations, depending on background and interest.
Required Qualifications
- A graduate degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
- A PhD in Information Systems or a related discipline is preferred, but substantial professional experience may be considered as a substitute.
Desired Qualifications
We seek candidates with:
- University-level teaching experience with strong teaching evaluations.
- Demonstrated skill in curriculum design, instructional innovation, and student engagement.
- Technical proficiency in areas such as:
- Programming (e.g., Python)
- Systems analysis and design
- Database fundamentals and SQL
- Web application development
- Artificial intelligence and machine learning applications
- Business analytics and data visualization
- Professional experience in information systems and strong industry or academic networks.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and mentoring abilities.
- Someone who is committed to removing barriers for all individuals, including those traditionally encountered by individuals from underrepresented groups.
- A willingness to support student clubs, manage IT-related competitions, and promote departmental programs.
- Potential for future leadership contributions within the department or school.
