Job Summary

INSTAAR at the University of Colorado Boulder invites applications for two Temporary Researchers!
These temporary research assistants will aide ongoing pika research through data collection in the field. This will primarily consist of collecting confirmed observations of tagged animals, and placement and maintenance of acoustic recording units in the field. Who We Are

As the University's oldest institute, INSTAAR has a long history of responding to pressing environmental issues including climate change. Our traditional focus has been on alpine, Arctic, and Antarctic regions, where effects of global change are especially pronounced. INSTAAR's research activities integrate field studies, state-of-the-art laboratory experiments, sample analysis, and numerical and laboratory modeling. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Field observations of tagged (known) animals, collection of audio recordings of focal animals, maintenance of installed acoustic recording unit deployments.

  • Position will start immediately in Fall 2025.


What We Can Offer

The hourly rate for this position is $19/hour - $21/hour.

Temporary positions at the University of Colorado are not benefits-eligible, however, all positions are eligible for paid sick leave.

What We Require

  • Previous field experience working with pikas in montane regions.


What You Will Need

  • Previous experience working in rugged terrain, ability to lift >5lbs, and hike >3mi/day in rough terrain.
