Clackamas Community College (CCC) seeks to hire an

Assessment and Placement Assistant [Part-Time]
position. This is a part-time, classified, non-exempt, and non benefits-eligible position. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Provide customer service and front line support for the office of Testing and Placement Services;
  • Explain the services offered, including examinations offered and course placement options, to public and college faculty, staff, and students.
  • Assist in the preparation of space, coordination of appointments, administration of various examinations, and daily functions of overall office environment.
  • Provide accurate information about policy and procedures, as well as make appropriate referrals to aid students in the getting started processes at the college.
  • Assure services provided are in accordance with proprietary test requirements, as well as College-wide policies, regulations, and standards, including careful adherence to (FERPA) privacy guidelines/confidentiality of student records.
  • Maintain support presence as a reliable member of a team who is both dependable and flexible, as well as aware of program improvement goals; contribute ideas in goal-setting activities.
  • Operate standard office equipment, including Microsoft Office and appointment software.
  • Help students with common PC issues that arise during electronic testing sessions.
  • Verify valid identification and distribute/collect issued testing material; Ensure academic integrity and monitor student behavior using electronic monitoring software, surveillance cameras, and periodic walkarounds; comply with testing procedures as dictated.
  • Engage in initial placement conversations designed to address a goal orientation for student planning; review preliminary intake information with prospective students.
  • Enter data related to test scores and placement options, registration, and student records in the Student Information System (SIS; Colleague).
  • Carry out other duties and/or project-based work as assigned and within the functions of the position.

AUXILIARY JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Provide assistance to other college personnel as workload and staffing levels dictate.
  • Maintain proficiency by attending training and meetings, reading materials, and meeting with others in areas of responsibility.
  • Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly manner.


Qualifications



MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the duties as described.

  • A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be: An Associate's degree from an accredited school plus 3 years teaching, training, testing, counseling or customer service experience. A Bachelor's degree is preferred.

  • Ability to exemplify traits that reflect the College's culture, including integrity, a customer service orientation, cultural competency, trustworthiness, flexibility and a willingness to change.


KNOWLEDGE:


  • Experience working with diverse persons, who may speak a language other than English and/or who have significant educational challenges; knowledge of software applications including proficiency in word processing and email as well as basic knowledge of spreadsheet, database, and web-based tools in an office environment.


SKILLS:


  • Be welcoming to visitors and provide exceptional customer service in person and on the phone; demonstrated excellent interpersonal and intercultural skills using tact, patience, and courtesy in an office environment; demonstrated experience establishing and maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships with others; must be dependable, adaptable and reliable.

Terms of Employment

  • All positions at CCC are required to be available for work onsite as requested by the college and requires a flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include evenings and/or weekends.
