Assistant Professor in Social Psychology
Details
Social Psychology at the University of Utah. The Department of Psychology at the University of Utah invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions in social psychology. These advertised positions are for tenure-track assistant professors. We welcome applications from social psychologists with strong theory-based research programs in the following areas:
Position 1) social-health psychology (social contributors to physiology and health outcomes; social processes involved in health behaviors, health-related decision-making, and seeking and receiving medical care). Individuals who can address the potential influence of social and cultural factors in explaining disparities in health outcomes and/or how this knowledge may translate to interventions that promote health and well-being for all individuals will be especially of interest.
Position 2) social psychology with emphasis in social cognition, attitudes, affect/emotion, close relationships, or motivation/self-regulation with potential application to education, mental health, well-being, physical health, technology and use of AI, law, intergroup relations, or work and the workforce.
We welcome applicants to either position who conduct research that would enhance or complement our strengths in two related themes - Health and Well-being and Diversity and Culture. Applications will be considered both from candidates with expertise in classic social psychological methodologies and those with diverse domains of methodological expertise. We welcome applicants who can extend our existing expertise and contribute to the undergraduate and graduate teaching mission of the program and department. Candidates should have an excellent and sustained record of research and evidence of the potential or demonstrated ability to generate extramural funding, commensurate with their career stage.
