Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The instructional technologist will be a creative problem solver and energetic collaborator who will work closely with faculty members and COD Learning Technologies team members to create and implement innovative technology solutions in support of teaching & learning at College of DuPage. The Instructional Technologist will work independently and in conjunction with the Instructional Designer to develop course content within the College's LMS, develop learning objectives using HTML 5 and other appropriate technologies and tools, and to integrate existing external assets into LMS.

  • Develop original learning objects and assets in support of online and hybrid course design and development.
  • Identify and integrate existing external assets and resources into the college LMS that align with and support learning outcomes.
  • Support faculty in the effective and appropriate use if technology tools for teaching and learning, including the college LMS, video and audio software, collaboration tools, etc.
  • Work closely with technologically advanced faculty users and provide high-end support and consultation on technology topics.
  • Recommend original technology-based solutions for teaching & learning problems.
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of a regular schedule of technology training workshops and modules in online, hybrid and face-to-face formats.
  • Keep current with web development trends and skills sets.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Qualifications:

    • Education
      • Some College coursework in a technology or instructional design related discipline required.
      • Bachelor's degree in a technology or instructional design related discipline preferred.
    • Experience
      • Two years of professional experience using Blackboard or another commercial LMS required.
      • Professional experience with a server-side language such as PHP preferred.


    Working Conditions:

  • Blackboard, core web technologies and software, including HTML 5, CSS, Javascript, image editing.
  • Server-side language such as PHP, Adobe Creative Suite, SCORM or Tin Can APIs, integrating Google tools into web applications.
  • Working in an office environment.
  • This position requires a background check and drug screen.


  • Hybrid Remote Eligible: Yes

    Hiring Range:
    Starting pay begins at $23.87/hr. based on experience.

    Competitive starting pay is dependent on education and experience.
