Job Summary
The University of Utah Academic Senate is a legislative body where the major academic stakeholders at the University - faculty, students, and administrators - work together in setting educational policy and fulfilling the University's three-part mission of teaching, research, and service. The Academic Senate plays an integral part in the shared governance of the University. The Academic Senate office is hiring a versatile administrative program assistant who is professional, flexible, detailed oriented, self-motivated, and has the organizational, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills to manage the varied roles and tasks of this critical position.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include operational and program support to the Senate office in areas such as office management, program planning, financial processing, database and archive records maintenance, communications development, email management, and meeting management assistance. In addition, the Senate Assistant will coordinate special projects/tasks as assigned. This job description is not designed to contain or be interpreted as a comprehensive inventory of all duties, responsibilities and qualifications required of employees assigned to the job.

Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree in a related field, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience), plus two years of related experience required; ability to use logic and reasoning to prioritize tasks; office management skills including word processing, spreadsheet software, and/or database software preferred; demonstrated human relation and effective communication. Strong writing skills and ability to proofread documents and emails for spelling, grammar, content, and clarity. Capable of effectively managing multiple duties and competing deadlines with minimal supervision. Flexibility and willingness to help where needed. Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.

Work Schedule Summary: This position can accommodate remote work. It will be a requirement to be on site for any in-person meetings. Some Senate-related meetings might end after 6pm.
