The Division of Academic Affairs (DAA) at CU Boulder encourages applications for the Project Manager position! This role leads and tracks projects related to expanding degree offerings, maintaining existing programs, implementing new initiatives, and ensuring clear communication of ongoing projects within the online space with its partners on and off campus. The Project Manager supports projects through needs assessment, planning and budgeting, research, resource management, meeting coordination, project tracking, and collaboration across university units. Who We Are
The Division of Academic Affairs (DAA) is responsible for meeting the mission of the University of Colorado Boulder to serve as the state's comprehensive graduate research university with selective admission standards, offering a comprehensive array of undergraduate, master's and doctoral degree programs in various modalities. The units within AA are responsible for academic planning, accreditation, and assessment as well as academic resources, faculty recruitment/development, and research opportunities. Along with the colleges and schools, AA defines and delivers a wide range of world-class academic and enrichment opportunities for students. This position will support the online space designing next generation learning experiences that engage the local and global University of Colorado Boulder community. Our work spans innovative on- campus program development, MOOCs, scaled online courses, programs, and degrees, and designing new business and technical processes to support our academic vision.
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
The duties and responsibilities listed below apply to work supporting the Division of Academic Affairs and may include project-based support for other collaborative partners.
Project Management:
- Understand and integrate with DAA's online mission, initiatives, projects, processes, and relationships with campus collaborators and outside vendors.
- Design, implement, and evaluate processes to support the ongoing work of DAA using industry-standard tools and methodologies such as Jira, Asana, and Trello (e.g. agile project management, lean management).
- Create and maintain project plans linked with goals/objectives, budgets, and timetables, including large-scale cross-functional campus projects as well as individual online course and program development projects.
- Synthesize and integrate with project plans and resources from other campus units in collaboration with faculty and staff, including administrators in campus units and the leadership team within DAA.
- Develop tracking and evaluation practices and tools to assist in the accomplishment of established project goals and objectives, from faculty support for online course development to new business processes that support online programs.
- Identify and propose solutions to issues, challenges, and risks in project planning, implementation, and execution for cross-functional projects and course development projects, bringing up risk assessments through established channels when necessary.
- Regularly communicate project updates, outcomes, and requirements to relevant collaborators.
- Engage with campus units (e.g. Legal Counsel, Bursar's Office, Office of the Registrar, Graduate School, Budget & Fiscal Planning) as appropriate to identify and resolve issues and to ensure compliance with applicable projects, procedures, policies, and regulations.
- Engage with degree partners (e.g. MS-EE, MS-DS, ME-EM, MS-CS, MS-OL, MA-TL) as appropriate to identify and resolve issues and to ensure compliance with applicable projects, procedures, policies, and regulations.
- Engage with vendor partners (e.g. Coursera) as appropriate to identify and resolve issues and to ensure compliance with applicable projects, procedures, policies, and regulations.
- Lead meetings, set project expectations, and monitor work progress of and for individuals and project teams.
- Maintain regular contact with key faculty and staff collaborators, ensuring accountability on progress relative to project and program goals.
- Prepare special reports for and briefings with key partners in DAA and other collaborator groups on project status and performance metrics.
- Prepare and distribute special communications directed to diverse campus collaborator groups and communities regarding project status and updates.
- Capture feedback using variety of tools (Qualtrics, google survey, debriefing meetings) and input from diverse collaborators in other campus units and departments, sharing this input with relevant stakeholders.
What You Should Know
This job is remote, with occasional onsite meetings as required. The anticipated remote schedule will be: Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm.
What We Can Offer
The annual salary range for this full-time position is $70,000-$80,000. Relocation allowance may be offered based on department guidelines.

What We Require
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field. A combination of education and relevant experience as described below may be substituted for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
- 3+ years of professional, job-related experience in project management, working in diverse teams, groups, and/or collaborative environments.
- Demonstrated experience in project or program management that includes a combination of the following:
- Mapping and planning a project negotiating collaborator's input
- Leading projects through their entire life cycle, including successful completion, closeout, and reporting
- Leading multiple complex concurrent projects
- Staffing and handling project resources
- Client and/or vendor relationship management
- Risk management and issue resolution
- Leading and tracking project budgets

- Excellent communication skills, including communications to internal and external partners
- Familiarity with project management methodologies like agile and lean management to support projects
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
- Proven track record of fostering connections

- Comfortable with changing priorities
