In compliance with SB 1162, Western University of Health Sciences is providing a pay scale for this position. The pay scale reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within this range, the individual pay is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and work location. Please note that the compensation details listed reflects the base salary only.

Expected Pay Scale
Minimum: $21.00 Hourly
Maximum $23.00 Hourly

Job Summary

Provides assistive care to patients and providers at WesternU Health Medical Center and Foot and Ankle Center by processing referrals in a timely manner. Includes submitting new referrals via insurance payor portals and following up to check if referrals are approved/denied. Assists patients and providers with any referral related questions.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Individuals must possess these knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills also required.
Must have knowledge of medical terminology.
Must have basic desktop computer skills and have a general knowledge of Computers, printer, telephone, adding machine, file cabinets, literature sorters, mailing supplies and internet, copy machine, fax machine.

Required Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience:
- 1-2 years prior experience in a medical office environment.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff.
- Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR), Practice Management Software, Microsoft Office, and other applicable software packages.

Preferred Qualifications

Education: Medical Assistant Certificate or LVN licensing from an accredited course of study is preferred
Experience:
- Ability to process referrals and verify eligibility.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
