Position Announcement


Utah Valley University is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Events Assistant to support the successful execution of campus events, conferences, and meetings. As a key member of the Event Services team, this position is responsible for setting up and tearing down event spaces according to layout specifications, staging equipment such as tables, chairs, and platforms, and ensuring audio/visual systems are ready for use.

The Events Assistant plays a hands-on role in creating positive event experiences by assisting presenters with microphones, lighting, and basic technology needs. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working behind the scenes, takes pride in efficiency and teamwork, and is committed to providing excellent service to the campus community.
Work shift will be 4:00pm to 10:30pm Monday through Friday. A half hour lunch off the clock is included in the shift time.

Summary of Responsibilities


  • Follows set drawings provided by event facilitator to meet event setup requirements.
  • Maintains good public relations by providing good service in a safe and comfortable environment for students, visitors and employees. Acts as the second level of event support for setup needs and escalate technical issues.
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications

Graduation from a standard senior high school or the equivalent. Part-time experience will be prorated.

Preferred Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited institution with an associate's degree and 1 year experience related to the summary of duties; or any combination of education and experience related to the summary of duties totaling three years.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Knowledge
  • Knowledge in proper cleaning methods and techniques.
  • Knowledge of supervisory methods and techniques pertaining to part-time hires.
  • Working knowledge of sound and lighting equipment helpful.
Skills
  • Skills in set-up and storage of technical equipment.
  • Skills for effective interpersonal communication.
Abilities
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
