Job Summary:
The Associate Director, Gift Administration and Compliance serves an important role in ensuring donor intent is upheld by ensuring restricted fund compliance at USF. This position will monitor current use and endowed funds on an ongoing basis to ensure compliance and expenditure in accordance with gift agreements and fund's documented purpose. The role will oversee regular fund balance audits, recommend action when necessary, and collaborate with Development and campus partners to uphold compliance with donor intent. This role will also assist in special scholarship administration and financial, narrative, and impact reporting as needed. This position's work supports the Development Division's broader stewardship and fundraising strategies.

Responsibilities:
Leadership
- Supervise Assistant Director, Gift Administration and Donor Intent, supporting, guiding, and overseeing their specialty areas in: designation and fund set up, gift agreement review, and creation of the restricted fund cover pages.
- Educate divisional and university stakeholders and support Development gift policy understanding, ensuring gift agreements meet all applicable policies and guidelines.
- Develop and maintain annual, quarterly, and monthly calendar of activities for gift administration and compliance, aligning activities with donor reporting goals, and partnering with campus stakeholders on expenditure timelines.
Analysis
- Develop, perform and oversee annual internal audit of restricted funds to ensure funds are expended in accordance with gift agreements and gift documentation.
- Determine, in collaboration with Development leadership, key performance indicators and standardized metrics for measurement of adherence to donor intent.
- Utilize financial, database and technology tools to develop effective and streamlined systems and processes to ensure gift compliance.
Collaboration
- Build and maintain strong partnership with Accounting & Business Services, Treasury, and Business Managers to identify, review, and ensure restricted funds are leveraged and expended, as needed, and recommend inactivating designations and funds when appropriate
- Partner with colleagues to review, amend, and uphold gift agreements for endowed and current use funds.
- Collaborate with internal university stakeholders to uphold donor intent and ensure restricted dollars are being spent as intended.
- Communicate and clarify gift policy to university faculty, staff, and development partners.
Project Management and Program Design
- Support with special scholarship or restricted gift administration to ensure compliance with donor intent.
- Document standard operating procedures and if appropriate, create and share training materials
- Continually evaluate the effectiveness of USF's gift administration and compliance program, building on the existing framework, identifying pathways for success, and recommending avenues for continued evolution.
Qualifications & Desired Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree required, with a preference for degrees in finance, accounting, or business.
- Minimum of five years of experience in higher education accounting and fund management.
- Minimum of eight years of professional work experience.
- Current certification in accounting strongly preferred.
- Ability to creatively seek solutions, navigate ambiguity and change, resolve conflict using thoughtful and clear decision-making. Oriented toward acting and seeking resolution.
- Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills, including the ability to handle difficult problems and interact with senior/executive management and external/internal stakeholders with confidence and tact.
- Experience in analysis & presenting solutions, interpreting data, and building consensus.
- Demonstrated proficiency with various software, including Microsoft and Google suites, financial tools, and comfort navigating CRMs/databases.

Salary Range :
The salary range for this position is $86,000/yr - $96,000/yr. Offers will be based on candidate experience and education, as well as equity within the University of San Francisco.
