Research Dev Associate III

Job Summary

The research lab of Dr. Corrine Voils, housed within the Division of Epidemiology within the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Utah, invites applications for a scientist to join a large and growing research program focused on behavioral interventions for weight management. Dr. Voils' research program involves collaborations with universities and VA medical centers across the United States, with multiple studies funded by the NIH and VA. The selected candidate will identify research problems, design research studies, write grant proposals, participate in research dissemination initiatives, provide one-on-one training and research mentorship to research staff and students, and prepare research results for presentation to professional organizations, and submitting manuscripts for publication. 



Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with faculty and administrators to pro-actively identify funding opportunities aligned with academic research areas.
  2. Write and edit clear, compelling, and technically accurate proposals, letters of intent, narratives, and supporting documents for grant submissions.
  3. Coordinate the grant application process, including pre-submission peer reviews proposal drafts, timelines, and submission requirements.
  4. Assist with post-award reporting and communications to funding agencies as needed.
  5. Maintain a calendar of grant deadlines, submissions, and reporting requirements.
  6. Stay up to date on trends and best practices in grant writing, academic funding, and compliance.
  7. Develop templates and maintain a library of successful proposals and standard language for common information (e.g., facilities, mission, etc.).
  8. Contribute significantly to writing manuscripts and abstracts and presenting research results at local, regional and national scientific meetings.
  9. Participate in or lead weekly team meetings.
  10. Spearhead strategic research initiatives by acting as a key partner to form strategic direction and guide initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications
Master's Degree or Bachelor's degree + four years of related experience or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).

  • PhD in social science, public health, or related field.
