Position Announcement

The Department of Digital Media (www.uvu.edu/digitalmedia) invites applications for a lecturer faculty position in Digital Cinema Production to begin January 2026.

The digital cinema production lecturer teaches in one or more areas: digital cinema postproduction, screenwriting, producing, directing, and cinematography. The faculty member attends and participates in department meetings and may serve on department committees related to their area of expertise and teaching.

The department will accept all qualified applications but is particularly interested in applicants with experience in multiple modes of film and television production (screenwriting, producing, directing, cinematography, and post-production) for narrative fiction and/or non-fiction.

Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications


  • Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor's degree in film Production, or a related field.
  • College-level teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited institution with an MFA or doctorate in film Production or related field.
  • Five or more years of experience in cinema production related areas.
  • Experience in one of the following areas: digital cinema post-production, screenwriting, producing, directing, and cinematography.
  • Experience with VR, gaming, and other new media.


Knowledge / Skills / Abilities


  • Knowledge of current film industry trends and standards.
  • Knowledge of the breadth of film production practices including producing, directing, cinematography, and editing for film, television, and new media.
  • Knowledge of narrative story structure and its relation to pre-production through postproduction execution.
  • Creating a vision for a cinematic project
  • Project supervision skills
  • Skills in using software and equipment applicable courses taught
  • Skills in one or more of the following areas of emphasis: cinema post-production, screenwriting, producing, directing, and cinematography
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong program coordination skills.
  • Effective verbal and technical written communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong presentation and proposal skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, agency administrators, and professionals within the film industry from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and initiative in solving problems.
  • Ability to work independently.

  • Ability to plan measurable objectives, prepare instructional materials, and follow an approved curriculum.

  • Ability to relate with students and effectively teach and mentor them.
