The Center on Media Innovation for Social Impact within Boston University's College of Communication seeks a dynamic and detail-oriented Programs Manager to coordinate and support all aspects of the Centers operations and programming. The Program Manager will work closely with the Director and affiliated faculty, staff, and students to help plan and execute public events, manage research initiatives, and support the Centers fellowship program. A key aspect of the role includes overseeing all internal and external communications, ensuring consistent and effective messaging across channels. Key Responsibilities
- Program Administration: Support the day-to-day operations of the Center, including scheduling, budgeting, and workflow coordination across projects.
- Event Planning: Lead the planning and execution of in-person and virtual events, including lectures, workshops, panels, and community-based programs.
- Fellowship Program Coordination: Manage communications with fellows, track progress on deliverables, and provide logistical and administrative support.
- Research Support: Assist with coordination and documentation of ongoing research projects, including scheduling interviews, collecting data, and preparing materials for publication or presentation.
- Communications: Develop and manage internal and external communication strategies. This includes maintaining the Centers website, writing newsletters, coordinating with BU communications, and managing social media accounts.
- Partnership Development: Support collaboration with local, national, and international partners, including academic institutions, nonprofits, and government agencies.
Required Skills
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred in a related field (e.g., media studies, public policy, communications, public administration).
- 3 - 5 years of relevant experience in program or project management, preferably in an academic or nonprofit environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated organizational and multitasking abilities, with strong attention to detail.
- Experience managing digital communication platforms, including websites, email newsletters, and social media.
- Comfort working independently and as part of a small, collaborative team.
- Passion for media innovation, civic engagement, and social impact. Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with Boston University systems or similar institutional structures.
- Graphic design or visual communication skills are a plus.
- Experience working with research teams or in a university research center.
- Hybrid work is authorized after an initial period.
