Classification Pay Scale
In compliance with SB 1162, Western University of Health Sciences is providing a pay scale for this position. The pay scale reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within this range, the individual pay is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and work location. Please note that the compensation details listed reflects the base salary only.

Expected Pay Scale
Minimum: $100,000.00 Annually
Maximum $110,000.00 Annually

Job Summary
The Regional Director of Clinical Education at COMP-Northwest (Greater Portland and Vancouver, Seattle and Tacoma) oversees clinical education within their designated region by recruiting and supporting preceptors, mentoring students, and ensuring high standards of osteopathic medical training. This role involves participation in faculty development, student support, accreditation compliance, and guiding learners through their transition to graduate medical education while upholding the core competencies and principles of osteopathic medicine.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Individuals must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to perform the essential functions of the assigned classification, with or without reasonable accommodation(s), using some other combination of skills and abilities. Necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities are as follows:

  • Knowledge of medical education and the core competencies of osteopathic medicine, including osteopathic principles and practice, professionalism, and holistic patient care.
  • Experience in clinical education and faculty development, with the ability to support, mentor, and assess clinical preceptors and adjunct faculty.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with students, faculty, clinical partners, and institutional leadership.
  • Ability to mentor and support students in academic, professional, and personal development, including guiding them through the transition to graduate medical education (GME).
  • Familiarity with accreditation standards (COCA, WASC) or a willingness to learn and contribute to reporting and compliance efforts.
  • Commitment to ethical leadership, accountability, and continuous quality improvement in clinical education.
  • Organizational and problem-solving skills to address challenges in student performance, faculty engagement, and clinical site operations.
  • Ability to travel within the assigned region to maintain strong relationships with clinical training sites and ensure high-quality student experiences.

Required Qualifications
  • Education: DO, MD or PA-C degree
  • Experience: 2-3 years medical education

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience: 2-3 years of experience in Graduate Medical Education or as a Clerkship Director
