Job Summary
The University of Utah seeks a highly motivated, student-centered, and dedicated professional to serve as Program Manager in the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life. Under the supervision of the Director, the Program Manager will provide support to the over 100-year-old fraternity and sorority community in the areas of program development, risk management, and promotion of leadership. The Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life is a fast-paced, team-driven environment with many stakeholders. This individual will engage student leaders in the management and direction of operations and programming while helping chapters to fully engage faculty, staff, alumni, and the community in the academic, social, and personal development of their membership.
Currently, the University of Utah is home to twenty-two (22) inter/national fraternities and sororities with approximately 2,500 undergraduate members, composing more than 9% of the undergraduate population. With the support of student leaders who serve on the Panhellenic and lnterfraternity Councils, the fraternity and sorority community hosts annual community-wide events such as New Member Orientation, Greek Week and SongFest, fraternity & sorority recruitment, and a variety of other events and initiatives throughout the year. Additionally, the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life oversees a Chapter Accreditation Program to drive performance and improvement of chapter operations and member experience.
Responsibilities
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Advising & Coaching:
- Serve as the primary advisor to the Panhellenic Council (CPC), providing officer training, policy and leadership development and transition support, including best practices related to each position.
- Oversee CPC led sorority recruitment efforts each semester & provide team support to fraternity recruitment efforts
- Coach a portfolio of approximately 4-5 organizations in developing and pursuing organizational goals related to risk reduction and accountability, membership growth and development, organization management & operations, academic program support, university policy and organizational progress on the Chapter Accreditation Program
- Direct council publications and presence at Utah Bound Orientation, Discover & Choose the U, Welcome Week, Get Involved Fairs, and special events throughout the year in collaboration with IFC & Panhellenic Council officers.
- In collaboration with Director and Council Officers, support community growth and extension/expansion processes.
Educational, Curriculum & Policy Development & Implementation:
- Oversee council-led programs and initiatives that foster a sense of community among Fraternity/Sorority organizations including Greek Week, Homecoming, and various large-scale community wide-programming.
- Support department leadership in development, facilitation and evaluation of annual educational programs and initiatives centering leadership development and/or health and wellness including overseeing program budgets, campus partner engagement, and assessment strategies to gauge student learning and development.
- Programs include chapter officer education, New Member Orientation, Emerging Leader Program, community development initiatives, hazing, alcohol & other drug, and violence prevention programming.
- In collaboration with the Director and Council Officers, assist with review, implementation and assessment of policies and rules guiding the fraternal experience including, but not limited to, those related to academic standards, philanthropic efforts, social event functions, and new member programs.
Partnership Development & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Serve as a liaison to and collaborate with various campus partners including the Center for Campus Wellness, U Career Success, Union Administration, Housing & Dining Programs, Office of Residence Life, Student Governance & Leadership, Bennion Center for Community Engagement, and the Office of Student Accountability & Support.
- Serve as primary liaison to Office of Student Leadership and Involvement for Fraternity and Sorority Affiliated and Sponsored Student Organization management, tracking and recognition requirements.
- Collaborate with organization alumni, advisors and (inter)national headquarters staff members, as needed
- Serve on various committees associated with the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life; also, represent the University of Utah within fraternity and sorority professional associations and organizations through attendance of relevant conferences or training programs to remain current in the field.
- Supervision and development of Graduate Assistants and/or undergraduate student staff
- Support daily operations of Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life including assisting with student and stakeholder outreach, engaging with students and visitors, and ensuring a welcoming environment for all those who engage with the office.
- Evaluate organizational progress & development within the Chapter Accreditation Program;
- Lead office communication, outreach and marketing strategies including social media engagement, stakeholder newsletters, and community information sharing flyers and resource campaigns.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).
- Four to six years of progressively more responsible management experience.
- Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of department.
- Familiarity with fraternities and sororities in order to analyze, plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superior.
- Master's degree in a related area may be preferred.

Preferences
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Affiliation with an Inter/National Fraternity/Sorority organization preferred, but not required.
- Experience working with fraternities and sororities, student organizations and/or campus activities in a higher education and/or Inter/national organization environment.
- Experience presenting and facilitating with a variety of groups including students, faculty/staff, alumni, parents, and community members
- Ability to work flexible schedule that may include evenings, nights, and weekends, as needed.

Work Schedule Summary: The role works primarily on campus (in-person) but is eligible for alternative schedules such as one remote workday per week, "4x10" schedule, "9/80" schedule, or other work week formats that may be appealing to the selected candidate. The role is also approved for remote work during times of surge telework.
