Job Summary
The Engineering Management Program (EMP) at CU Boulder encourages applications for an Online Graduate Program Advisor! This position serves as the advisor for credit and non-credit students enrolled or interested in the online Coursera programs in the EMP, including the ME-Engineering Management degree, the graduate certificate in Engineering Management, and the graduate certificate in Design for the Circular Economy. Through proactive outreach and communication, the graduate advisor informs and advises students of their degree milestones and tracks their progress towards fulfilling them; advises students about the nature and content of the program's curricula; helps prepare students to take advantage of professional development, and community-building opportunities. The EMP is committed to developing collaborative, student-centered relationships between the Program and graduate students that support achievement of academic success, promote personal and professional development of students, and foster a sense of community for our graduate students. The advisor supports students through a developmental, student-focused approach. This position is charged with developing and implementing advising strategies and interventions to enhance the performance and persistence of students and support the graduate education mission of the EMP in a scalable way.

Who We Are
The Engineering Management Program (EMP) is a technically-based management and leadership program for the engineering and technical fields that prepares students for early to mid-career positions in a variety of industries. It's designed for students who are looking to advance in management, successfully contribute to the overall business or venture, and develop their leadership skills.
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Academic Advising/Student Support
- Performs academic advising for Coursera students, consistent with current advising standards and protocols with tasks including but not limited to:
- Tracking student progress by maintaining student records.
- Maintaining and updating degree plans, advising Coursera students regarding academic requirements and options for completing them, staying current regarding changing curriculum. Uses degree audit system as appropriate. Complete audit exceptions for eligible students to ensure timely graduation.
- Reviewing and processing student requests and ensuring students receive communication and responses in a timely manner.
- Helping students with course registration issues as needed, including requests for outside electives, outside certificate, and leave of absence.
- Serving as the Coursera student liaison with the EMP staff and faculty, presenting student petitions, as needed.
- Serves as the first point of contact for current and prospective students with questions or concerns. Assists students with problem-solving and campus resources. Advances appeals or grievances to the senior program manager as appropriate.
- Creates documents/systems that can support a large group of students to scale.
- Builds tutorials and communications to translate and streamline the students' academic journey.
Recruitment, Admissions and Communication
- Collaborates with other EMP staff to ensure information on the program's graduate program website is accurate, compelling, and up-to-date. Keeps recruitment materials up to date.
- Serves as the main point of contact in Coursera recruitment meetings and collaborates on ways to reach a more diverse audience, including attending recruitment events.
- Manages admissions and degree conferral process and sends admissions decisions and processes degree conferrals at the end of every session.
- Assists the Senior Online Program Manager in sending regular messages through CRM system and unlinked accounts. This includes informing them about deadlines, opportunities, career and academic resources, and assessing career outcomes.
- Conducts visual compliance and other mandated reports.
- Assists in webinars and other recruitment efforts.
- Advocates for student services and notify students of upcoming opportunities, specifically creating a community within the online student population.
- Assists in planning student events, including graduation recognition ceremonies.
- Collaborates with other departments and units on campus.
Other
- Supports the EMP with its events, talks, diversity and inclusion efforts and other projects as needed.
- Designs and coordinates student-focused events to promote a sense of community and increase retention rates among current graduate students. Helps the program with other projects, where and when needed.
- Creates and manages alumni engagement through social media, emails, and interviews. Assess alumni outcomes.
- Develops and maintains procedural documents.
- Servers as backup for the Senior Online Program Manager.
- Attends and participates in EMP meetings, applicable program meetings, and cross-campus meetings.
- Assists with special projects as assigned.

- This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule consistent with the College of Engineering and Applied Science's Hybrid Work Policy.
What We Can Offer
Starting salary for this position is $58,000 - $60,945. Relocation assistance is available within department guidelines.

What We Require
- Bachelor's degree.
- One year of experience in advising, student services, or other relevant experience (i.e. program administration, marketing/communications, admissions, etc.).
- An equivalent combination of education and experience can substitute on a year for year basis.

- Proficient use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point).
- Proven skills using cloud-based services such as Dropbox, Google Drive, and/or Google's G Suite.
- Ability to work in an environment that occasionally demands flexibility including evening/weekend work.
