Job Summary:

The University of Colorado, School of Medicine, Addiction Research and Treatment Services (ARTS) is seeking a full-time Behavioral Health Technician for the Inspiration for Men program. Inspiration for Men provides residential substance use treatment services to men. Inspiration for Men provides up to 90-day residential stays for men with severe substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. The program provides drug and alcohol assessment, psychosocial and pharmacological treatment, psychiatric services, and medication management. The behavioral health technician position is responsible for the observation, monitoring of clients, intervening and recording client activity.

This position is located at the Ft. Logan Campus and will be scheduled during Swing Shift hours of 4pm-12am.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Observe, monitor, and intervene in drug/alcohol treatment through acting as a support staff to the Substance/Behavioral Health Clinician.
  • Assure client compliance with program structure.
  • Filing and auditing charts, uploading patient information into the electronic health record.
  • Assist counselors with cognitive/behavioral approaches and assignments.
  • Support, monitor, and document leisure activities and meals.
  • Support, monitor, and document urine screens and administer and document patient medications.
  • Perform routine inspections of residential premises both inside and out as well as conduct facility head counts, and fire drills.
  • Inventory patient property.
  • Conduct room and patient bed checks.
  • Transport patients off site as needed.

Work Location:

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located at the Ft. Logan Grounds, Denver, CO.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or General Educational Diploma (GED).
  • One (1) year of experience in a behavioral health field.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, counseling, counseling psychology or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Possess a Certified Addiction Technician (now known as a CAT) certification or higher.
  • Experience working in a substance use disorder treatment program with adult male clients.
  • Experience using an Electronic Medical Record.
  • Experience and knowledge of Federal Confidentiality laws concerning Drug and Alcohol treatment and HIPAA.

Conditions of Employment:
  • Must agree to fingerprinting and a criminal background check. Required background checks include a review with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
  • Subject to pre-employment, post-accident or incident or reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing per AMC Addiction Research and Treatment Services Department Policies.
  • Individuals in recovery from substance abuse must have one (1) year of abstinence from alcohol and drug problems.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid State of Colorado Driver's License or be able to obtain a valid State of Colorado driver's license within 30 days of hire.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and ability to learn software programs.
  • Ability to elevate decision making to a higher level based on policies and procedures.
  • Ability to investigate, evaluate, and fact check information that needs to be conveyed to outside constituencies, in the matters of their clients we treat, in a complete and professional manner.
  • Ability to be nonjudgmental and respectful of other's beliefs, values, and culture.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $43,806 - $50,822.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
