Job Description:

Madison College is seeking a limited term, Senior Institutional Research Analyst. This position is responsible for developing and implementing research solutions that support institutional decision-making and strategic planning. This role involves conducting primary research through surveys, focus groups, and interviews, as well as analyzing institutional datasets to uncover insights. The Analyst collaborates with stakeholders to deliver reports, perform statistical analyses, and provide data-driven recommendations to inform college initiatives and research projects. Additionally, this role integrates external data sources with internal datasets for comparative analysis and synthesizes findings into PowerPoint presentations, short write-ups, and other accessible formats for end users. This position may lead institutional research initiatives or serve as a consultant for key stakeholders to carry out strategic research and data analytics at the college.

Position Details: This is a limited term, salaried position through Dec. 10, 2027, with full-time benefits including the Wisconsin Retirement System. This role offers the flexibility to perform some work remotely, with the expectation of in- office work two days a week, subject to change according to Madison College policy. Typical work schedule is M-F, 8:00am to 4:30 pm, with some flexibility.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborates with clients to design and execute research projects that address business requirements. Responsibilities include developing and conducting primary research studies, analyzing findings, and presenting insights to stakeholders in accessible formats.
  • Produces reports and conducts statistical analyses using business intelligence and statistical software. Activities include developing reporting solutions that support accreditation, inform strategic initiatives, and improve student outcomes.
  • Mines institutional datasets and integrates external data sources (e.g., national databases, labor market data, benchmarking) to identify trends, conduct comparative studies, and enhance research findings.
  • Ensures data integrity, accuracy, and consistency by applying best practices in data validation and statistical methodology. Documents data sources, definitions, and methodologies to support transparency and replicability.
  • Ensures research activities follow ethical and regulatory standards related to data privacy, human subjects, and institutional policies. Promotes data literacy by helping end users interpret findings and understand data limitations.


Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
  • Proficient in research design, data collection (surveys, focus groups, interviews), and statistical analysis.
  • Demonstrated skill in communications and human relations with populations of diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds and persons with disabilities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex data findings to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to tell compelling data stories by synthesizing complex findings, interpreting dashboards and visualizations, and clearly communicating insights to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Knowledge in statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R, SAS, or Python) and business intelligence tools (e.g., Cognos, Power BI, Tableau). Familiarity with Generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini) to support research, data analysis, and reporting is a plus.
  • Skilled in acquiring, integrating, and analyzing external data sources for comparative or benchmarking analysis.
  • Ability to validate and ensure data quality, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Proficient in documenting and redesigning processes using tools like the Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Visio, OneNote, Teams, and SharePoint).
  • Skills in designing, developing, and creating training materials for staff and users on reporting system deliverables using standard Microsoft tools.
  • Strong project management skills using industry standard project management tools.
  • Ability to coordinate cross-campus efforts and lead teams to achieve shared goals.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education:
    Bachelor's Degree required. An Associate's Degree may be considered with equivalent additional work experience.
  • Experience:
    2-4 years of relevant professional work experience.
