The Basic Needs Program of the Long Beach Community College District is seeking a highly qualified individual for a current opportunity as a Basic Needs Assistant! This individual will perform a wide variety of office duties and other program activities in support of daily operations and services of the Basic Needs Program.
We are looking for someone who ha graduated from high school or G.E.D. equivalent; and three (3) years of increasingly responsible office administrative, secretarial experience, food pantry or distribution management, or student services program operations; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
The successful candidate will need to:

- exhibit exceptional customer service skills, business communication, project management, and organizational skills
- have the ability to build rapport with internal and external stakeholders across the District and lead a diverse team

Duties
GENERAL PURPOSE
Under general supervision, performs a wide variety of office duties and other program activities in support of daily operations and services of the Basic Needs Program. Basic Needs Program assignment areas include, but are not limited to, the Viking Closet, Safe Parking Program, Shower Program, food distribution events, and the on-campus food pantry. The Basic Needs Assistant is responsible for early morning Shower Program student check-in activities; organizing and maintaining service areas, including the closet and food pantry; assisting with training and delegation of tasks to Student Assistants; event planning; providing information on Basic Needs resources to students; and ensuring quality customer service for all visitors to supports students' sense of mattering and de-stigmatization efforts; and performs related duties as assigned.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Basic Needs Assistants are responsible for independently performing support functions requiring general knowledge of district and department or program policies and procedures. Assigned work requires the use of judgment in selecting appropriate procedures and solving routine to non-routine problems based on knowledge gained through experience Specific duties may vary depending on operational needs, facilities and student events/activities that are delegated.

Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience:
Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent; and three (3) years of increasingly responsible office administrative, secretarial experience, food pantry or distribution management, or student services program operations; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements:
May require a valid California driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District's vehicle insurance policy.
Meeting the minimum requirements of the position does not guarantee advancement in the selection process. Candidate qualifications will be assessed to determine those who meet and exceed requirements, and are deemed most competitive amongst the applicant pool to proceed.

Selection Process:
