Job Summary:

The Marketing and Communications Specialist develops and executes marketing and communication plans that support the mission and key priorities of both the Division of Urology and Division of Vascular Surgery including but not limited to: patient care, training programs, research and scholarly activity, philanthropy, and program reputation, to appropriate audiences. This position will develop and maintain social media and website content, coordinate physician relations activities, support general internal communications, develop marketing materials and collateral, and assist with marketing and communication needs of multiple programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Social Media Management
  • Creates meaningful and engaging content on social media platforms, including writing and editing social media posts, improving engagement, and promoting social media campaigns
  • Ensures social media content adheres to brand standards and meets privacy policies for content release
  • Produces and maintains a social media content calendar
  • Report quarterly analytics on social media accounts

Physician Relations
  • Leads referral development activities as informed by Division leadership. Provides strong customer service skills and relationship building capabilities with many different stakeholders. Focuses on developing referral relationships with physicians with the goal of maximizing referral and redirection opportunities for both inpatient and outpatient services
  • Implements physician relations activities, including 1:1 visits, educational events, focus groups, continuing medical education and social events
  • Track, trend, and report referral activities
  • Develop and guide physician liaison outreach strategies by identifying opportunities for new referral relationships or optimize existing referral relationships through analysis of all existing referral trends both internal and external.

Website Content Management
  • Develop, enhance, and maintain program-specific websites. This includes regularly updating existing content, generating new content, creating blogs, and cross-linking to other sites, events, and news
  • Provides website content and design support in collaboration with
  • University and Department Communications Personnel to ensure that website information is accurate and updated timely
  • Collaborates with University of Colorado and CU Medicine website specialists to improve website user experience, SEO, and website accessibility
  • Performs search engine optimization
  • Maintains the Faculty Information Management System (FIMS) in collaboration faculty and staff

Marketing
  • Plan and execute dissemination and promotion strategies for scholarly work, utilizing a variety of channels. (i.e., social media, email, media pitches, and blog posts.)
  • Creates and maintains marketing materials including brochures, flyers, promotional products, email campaigns, etc.
  • Utilize social media platforms to expand presence and business.
  • Research and highlight opportunities for marketing expansion.
  • Prepare and present reports on marketing efforts
  • Researches, organizes, produces, and manages effective marketing initiatives to support clinical growth

Public Relations and Internal Communications
  • Identify and pitch story ideas to the Division, School of Medicine, and University-level communications team
  • Build and maintain relationships with department and division leaders, faculty, trainees, research teams, and staff.
  • Attend campus and department communications meetings as needed and facilitate workgroups and strategic planning.
  • Collaborate with external and internal partners at UCHealth, Children's Hospital Colorado, CU Medicine, and other partners as appropriate.
  • Coordinate with surgeons/media/in-house communications teams to ensure stories are written, ready to be released, and amplified on social media channels
  • Organize and promote faculty, trainee, and research teams' scholarly work, publications, clinical trials, awards, grants, etc., as well as coordinate with key stakeholders regularly (clinical and education program leaders, research leaders, and external partners.)
  • Ability to work closely with the research and education teams to ensure that their scholarly work is translated appropriately and aligns with the overall goals and priorities of the divisions.
  • Develop and disseminate internal communications and announcements as needed
  • Create and maintain Division intranet
  • Manage outside media requests
  • Develop content for, design, and send internal monthly Division newsletters.
  • Design flyers, invitations, etc. for Division events such as holiday parties.
  • Act as a liaison and point of contact for Division news

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Communication Professional – Entry
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, business administration, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.

Communication Professional – Intermediate
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, business administration, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • 1 year of professional experience in content creation, public relations, marketing, communications, or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in creating marketing collateral

Communication Professional – Senior
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, business administration, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • 2 years of professional experience in content creation, public relations, marketing, communications, or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in creating marketing collateral

Substitution (all levels): A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional experience in marketing/communications in a higher education setting
  • Advanced skills in photography and photo editing
  • Advanced experience using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience in Social Media Management
  • Demonstrated ability to perform search engine optimization
  • Experience with design programs such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience with Google Management

  • Demonstrated creativity and problem-solving skills.

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as

Entry: $46,116-$58,660

Intermediate: $50,185-$63,835

Senior: $54,254-$69,012

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
