Job Description:
Germanna Community College is a public, open access institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System. The College is a dynamic learning organization that serves as a Germanna regional leader and preferred partner where quality learning experiences enable students to participate effectively in the social, economic, political, intellectual, and cultural life of their communities. Germanna Community College is centrally located in Fredericksburg, VA between Washington D.C. and Richmond and between the Blue Ridge mountains and the Chesapeake Bay. Full of history, the area offers a community rich with diversity, the arts, technology, vineyards, hiking, canoeing/kayaking, and many other activities.
The Outreach Coordinator plans, organizes, and executes outreach and recruitment activities for the College. Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Recruitment, this position proactively identifies and participates in outreach and recruitment activities within the service area and cultivates strong relationships with community partners, local schools, and prospective student and families with a special emphasis on underserved populations and students seeking career and technical education programs.
This position manages a team of two full-time College recruiters, coordinates day-to-day operations, and ensures the College is represented in a high-quality way at community and outreach events. The coordinator counsels prospective applicants and families on the One Door admissions process, academic and career training programs, and support services at the College in person, virtually, via e-mail communication, and phone. This position coordinates on-campus and community events and programs targeted towards prospective students, parents, school counselors, and community members.
This position coordinates the ongoing strategic communications to prospective students and other important populations, as well as maintains a prospect management system, a college-wide recruitment calendar, and a record of all outreach and recruitment activities. This position works closely with departments across the College and organizations within the community.

Special Assignments:

KSA's/Required Qualifications:
- Excellent public speaking, written communication, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated experience leading and coordinating a diverse team to support high visibility events and projects
- Demonstrable ability to be detail-oriented and proactively anticipate and resolve challenges in a large complex organization
- Ability to travel within service area for recruitment purposes
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to problem solve in a fast-paced environment with a diverse student population
- Knowledge of student recruitment and retention issues
- Ability to oversee the work of student employees and volunteers
- Ability to handle confidential information
- Ability to work evenings and weekends
- Ability to lift at least 20 pounds
- Ability to work at all campus locations
- Experience in higher education setting
- Extensive computer experience with familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet, and database software tools
- Extensive customer service experience with an ability to handle stressful situations
- A valid drivers license with the ability to travel throughout service area
- Commitment to working with diverse colleagues, students, and community members
- Demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing equity, inclusion, and diversity
