Job Summary:

This entry-level position, in the lab of Dr. Roberta Pelanda in the Department of Immunology and Microbiology, will work with mice (and sometimes with human tissues) and utilize molecular, genetic, immunological, and in vivo approaches to assist with investigating and elucidating the molecular mechanisms that regulate self-reactive B cells in tolerance and autoimmunity.



Key Responsibilities:

· Prepare lab for daily operations, including stocking materials, equipment, safety, cleanliness, and related areas.

· Maintenance of laboratory stocks and buffers.

· Ordering and procurement of laboratory supplies.

· Taking care of mouse colony.

· DNA isolation, PCR, and DNA cloning.

· Cell culture and protein purification.



Work Location:

Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.

o A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.



Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.



Preferred Qualifications:

· Prior experience or background within an experimental or wet lab.

· Interest in performing lab maintenance duties and executing experiments.

· Willingness to work with laboratory mice.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

· Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques.

· Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.

· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.

· Outstanding customer service skills.

· Demonstrated commitment ability to advance diversity and inclusion.

· Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.

· Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information.
