Michigan Medicine's C.S. Mott Children's Hospital School Program is seeking a full time (40 hrs/wk) Certified Teacher for a 12-month Fellowship to provide educational support and direct instruction for hospitalized patients at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital. The Fellow will engage with patients and families significantly impacted by chronic illness. The age range of the potential patient population is birth through college, though there will be an emphasis on infants and the K-5 population.
The Fellowship provides a unique opportunity to learn with and from hospital teachers and school liaisons as they serve children with chronic medical needs. The Fellowship is designed to provide early career teachers the opportunity to advance their education through participation in program development and to build pedagogical skills through providing direct instruction to patients admitted to the hospital. We aim to produce educators with the skills and knowledge to help families navigate educational concerns due to chronic illness and to act as strong advocates for their future students in and out of the hospital setting.
The fellowship provides a monthly stipend for a full-time (40 hrs/wk), 12-month placement. Hands on clinical experience, training, education, and supervision are provided as part of the fellowship experience.
The Hospital Teacher Fellowship offers entry-level hospital teaching experience for a recent college graduate who has completed a degree program including at least one semester student teaching or the equivalent experience. Applicants must be certified or eligible to apply for a teaching certificate by the fellowship start date.

- 0-3 years experience in a school setting.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
