Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, perform a variety of responsible duties in the supervision of custodial services; organize, schedule, assign and review custodial work; supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff.


Organize, coordinate and oversee custodial operations and activities to assure that assigned duties are performed in a timely and efficient manner.

Train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work and participate in the selection of new personnel as assigned; assure proper use of cleaning equipment and materials.

Develop and prepare work schedules; coordinate duties and assignments to assure effective operations.

Supervise and participate in the cleaning and care of rooms, restrooms, halls, floors, carpets, furniture, facilities and equipment including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, polishing, dusting, waxing and disinfecting.

Coordinate, supervise and participate in custodial preparations and clean up for various educational, social and civic activities and special events; arrange for proper equipment, heating, ventilation and lighting.

Check heating and cooling systems for proper operations and make minor adjustments or notify appropriate maintenance personnel.

Inspect buildings and facilities; report or correct hazardous, unsightly or unsanitary conditions as appropriate.

Communicate with other district personnel and departments as needed to coordinate activities and facilitate custodial operations.

Make minor repairs on furniture, cleaning equipment, electric carts and other classroom and district facilities.

Prepare and submit budget requests as directed; recommend the purchase, repair or replacement of departmental equipment; order custodial supplies and materials as needed.

Prepare and maintain records, files, correspondence, logs and reports related to personnel, inventory, supplies, work performed and hazardous materials.

Maintain departmental area(s) in a safe, clean and orderly condition; assure compliance with established safety procedures and regulations.

Maintain currency of qualifications for area of assignment.
